The Mexican league is an interesting animal heading into their final weekend of play. Lots of possibilities for teams to make the playoffs with a majority still alive.
Nobody in Mexico thinks of a single table, they love their playoff system and the unpredictability it brings. Teams are playing for their survival in the Mexican Primera.
So here is the schedule :
May 9
Jaguares vs. Cruz Azul
San Luis vs. Toluca
Tigres vs. Morelia
Atlas vs. Pachuca
Atlante vs. Santos
May 10
Puebla vs. Tecos
Pumas vs. Monterrey
Indios vs. Chivas
America vs. Necaxa
Meanwhile in England, in defense of a single table and promotion or relegation there are amazing storylines to follow at both ends of the table.
DYNAMO HOSTING FC DALLAS ON SATURDAY NIGHT
FC Dallas is apparently traveling fans to Houston this weekend in numbers that are rumored to be around 200 fans. Coach Schellas Hyndman has to be pointing to this game at Robertson Stadium as a platform to trying to turn their season around at this point. This is a national television game on Espn2 and it would be great if Dynamo fans came out in droves to support their squad in this rivalry match. But I ask again? Is FC Dallas living up to the bargain of being a great in-state rival? Dynamo fans must bring the passion against what one fan called “FC FRISCO”.
FC Dallas has some interesting players:
PABLO RICCHETTI- A solid holding midfielder from Argentina that will battle it out with Stuart Holden and Ricardo Clark for midfield control.
KEN COOPER JR- At 6′3 Cooper is all muscle and can run. Pretty soft feet as well.
DAVID FERRIERA- Has represented Colombia 35 times and is beginning to feel his way around MLS. Excellent on the ball and a good compliment to Cooper with his differences.
RAY BURSE- The goalkeeper can pull of athletic saves but also has looked indecisive. He replaces the injured Dario Sala.
MANCHESTER UNITED vs. ARSENAL today on Espn2 at 1:30
I am not buying that these Champions League games are locked up for Manchester United and Chelsea. In fact their is almost a bit of an air of arrogance around some United and Chelsea fans I sense. Are people being disrespectful to the quality of Arsenal and Barcelona especially since these are both 2nd leg matches where we know alot of unpredictability can occur? I am not ready to annoit Manchester United and Chelsea squaring off in Rome until they take care of business. These will be intriguing matches today and tomorrow on Espn2.
BOSTON BREAKERS OUTDRAW NE REVOLUTION?
That is the word we are hearing. Many have told me there was not over 9000 people at Gillette Stadium for their match against the Dynamo on Sunday. In fact some have said it was only a couple thousand. It sure looked barren on tv. The Boston Breakers drew 8000 for their Saturday night WPS match. So what does this mean? A great on field product in NE has never platformed above a base of 10,000 fans. Will they ever leave Foxborough?

NEWCASTLE”S BARTON
The tackle that got Joey Barton ejected was a piledriver of frustration and embarrassment that just show us all how football in the North of England has fallen at Tyneside.
Even the last gasp effort of hiring legend Alan Shearer won’t help in the short term. Having spent a summer in Newcastle I am hopeful that the “Geordies” will eventually get back a team that is representative of their history and passion for the sport.
Now back to Barton, all you have to do is look at his checkered career and bouts with the law and you will realize that this is a guy whose career in the top flight could be over.
He has beaten up teammates, had altercations with fans and bared his butt to crowd.
He has been suspended by Newcastle not for the tackle but for a post game altercation which I assume was with manager Alan Shearer.
He has apologized to his teammates.
