The Dynamo got their second consecutive win of the 2009 MLS season 2-0 over the NE Revolution today at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
The win was the first ever for the Dynamo on the road against NE.
The team looked energetic and lively from the opening kick-off with an extra spring in their step and clearly were the better possession team.
Their first good effort came in the 19th minute after Brian Mullan beat two defenders down the right side setting up Kei Kamara who was denied by a leg save from Matt Reis who returned to the lineup after injury.
The Dynamo caught a break and produced a great goal off a corner to provide the two goal difference. To be fair NE are a different team with Steve Ralston and Taylor Twellman who did not play but you still can’t discount a solid road effort. The Dynamo still have only conceded 5 goals in 2009 and pick up another shutout.

GAME WINNING GOAL: A huge goalkeeper mistake in the 22nd minute by Matt Reis was the difference. A tame, bobbling shot from Stuart Holden went right underneath Reis and through his legs and in. An uncharacteristic mistake but a break that the Dynamo have not gotten many times in 2009. 1-0 Dynamo.

DYNAMO GOAL NUMBER TWO: In the 57th minute Brian Ching came up with a play that led to earning a corner kick that led to his goal. Ching made a knifing run through the box and received a perfect throw in from Brian Mullan. Ching got behind midfielder Shalrie Joseph who fell asleep only to see his shot saved at the near post by Reis who had to concede a corner. The ensuing corner from Brad Davis was a beauty and found an unmarked Brian Ching who scored off a classic, leaping powerful header to give the Dynamo a two goal cushion.

The Dynamo were in control of this one throughout the night and have taken another step up after their 1-0 win two weeks ago against Colorado.
Andrew Hainault also came on for an injured Wade Barrett and was solid at left back. The Dynamo also were far more cognizant of shooting from longer range with efforts from a variety of players including Davis, Holden, Clark and Ching. It wasn’t a dominating performance based on chances during the run of play but the Dynamo were definetly in control of this game and played virtually mistake free. NE even pushed Shalrie Joseph forward in the latter stages much like his days in college at St. John’s University in New York.
Road wins are not easy to acquire in MLS and the Dynamo get one!

MAN OF THE MATCH: Ching hands down gets this award not only for his goal but even more for his determined effort . As one of the true leaders of this team, Ching through his
effort truly influences others.

MAN OF THE MATCH #2: Geoff Cameron was inspired and continues to lead through consistent play at the back. When could he be ultimately moved to midfield remains a question?

NEW GUYS GET MAKE FIRST APPEARANCE: Canadien international defender Andrew Hainault went in for an injured Wade Barrett at left back. Hainault was solid as we would expect after watching his game. Ade Akinbiyi came on in the 87th minute for Brian Ching .

NUMBERS GAME: *1st road win for the Dynamo since October 4, 2008 at Colorado
* Richard Mulrooney made his 240th start of MLS career
* Listed over 9,000 fans at Gillette Stadium but sure looked like a lot less.
* 1st road win of year, 2nd win overall
* 3rd straight shutout

THE SURFACE: Did you notice this also. The ball seemed to be bobbling when it was passed on the artificial surface. It also bobbled on Holden’s goal for the Dynamo.
Environment lacked.

So now rivals FC Dallas come in to Robertson Stadium Saturday night at 8pm fresh off another loss at DC United. A win here for the Dynamo and they are right back in the thick of things and have after a trip to New York alot of points available at home. Things look to be turning for the Dynamo after their slow start.

Barca wreck Real Madrid / Dynamo at NE

Barcelona destroyed Real Madrid in Madrid 6-2 to virtually lock up the Spanish League title.
Real Madrid striker Raul called his squad “powerless” against Barcelona .
Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry each scored twice and the win could be a significant boost of confidence heading into this weeks Champions League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea and Barcelona drew 0-0 at the Nou Camp this past week and will have to go the second leg without Carlos Puyol (suspended) and Rafa Marquez (knee injury) .

The Dynamo take on New England today at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA where they have never won. The Revolution were destroyed last weekend 6-0 but will get a big boost as both legendary midfielder Steve Ralston and goalkeeper Matt Reis are expected to return to their lineup.
The Dynamo are coming off a bye weekend and is it just me or does it seem like it has been an eternity since the “orange” have played. I will be camped out in front of my tv for this one.
Looking forward to seeing the Dynamo get their possession game flowing on the artificial surface in NE. Could we see Andrew Hainault and Ade Akinbiyi the newest Dynamo signings?

LA finally got their first win of the year over New York who has now lost five times. Landon Donovan (who else) gets the game winner.
Chicago and Seattle drew 1-1 and the Sounders were lucky to get a road point after being dominated over the first 45 minutes and then having Fredy Montero ejected early in the second half. Marco Pappa scored for Chicago while Tyrone Marshall responded for Seattle.
