I am calling you out!
Yes, I am calling you out to join me on “Dynamo All Access with Glenn Davis” tomorrow night from 7-9pm on 790 The Sports Animal.
Like usual I am looking forward to hear your takes on the “global” game including the champions league, USA and Mexican national team plus the the Dynamo.
Dynamo fans….what are your thoughts on the the two-time MLS Cup Champions. Are we in transition? Can Andrew Hainault and Ade Akinbiyi help to increase the depth of this squad?
Ok, that was the perfect entry for me to comment.
These two players could play a real “huge” part in things a few months from now.
Hainault is still apparently in a struggle to get paperwork correct before he can join the Dynamo, apparently this is very complicated.
Consider this, Hainault at center-back alongside Bobby Boswell which allows Geoff Cameron to take a rightful place in midfield to bring his energy.
I go back to the night he was running through people at UNAM PUMAS down the right side in Mexico City.
Akinbiyi is still a hope for this weekend’s game against the Red Bull at home. I wonder if he realizes how much hope is being placed on him to add to this club?
Dynamo All Access tomorrow night is gonna be a good one!
Guests include: Dynamo players who all accepted invitations to be on the show…Brad Davis, Bobby Boswell and Richard Mulrooney will all react to the DC game and the squad heading into their match against the Red Bull.
How about some information from the Red Bull from a former professional soccer player? Shep Messing who played in the goal for the New York Cosmos and is a respected broadcaster brings insight on the New York Red Bulls.
Of course as usual Dominic Kinnear the Dynamo head man will join us as well as former Dynamo and now Red Bull defender Kevin Goldthwaite.
I appreciate all these great guests and hope you will enjoy this show. Last week was an awesome show and we will take it up a notch again.
In fact I apologize to all the callers that did not get on the air but we were wall to wall calls for these two hours pretty much which is outstanding.
Your voice in the game is important and I want to know what is on your mind. Remember if you don’t catch the show live you can go to the podcast on 790thesportsanimal.com, click podcasts, click Glenn Davis and listen to your heart’s desire.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE and REAL MADRID vs. DC United youth
Ok I hope my dentist is not reading this blog. I cancelled an appointment today so that I can see today’s Champions League match between Manchester United and Porto.
How about a little debt to pay for United on their Portuguese friends? Still love the genius of Alex Ferguson unafraid to play a 17 year old in their huge match against Aston Villa. Then the kid hits an amazing goal off the turn to beat U.S. goalkeeper Brad Friedel and runs to the crowd to celebrate with friends and family. You were introduced to Federico Macheda this past weekend in their 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.
The three points as opposed to one were huge for the Red Devils…….So I watched the Real Madrid u16 squad against the DC United youth squad before the Dynamo game at RFK. DC actually had the better chances during the first half and competed well before losing 1-0. Some excellent players with potential for United and some plying their trade at the Bradenton Academy.
Was not totally impressed with the way United was coached and to be fair Real Madrid were more savvy from a tactical perspective. Excellent game and a great experience for the United kids. So here is the difference. IN the next two years the DC United Academy kids will play against kids their own age while the Real Madrid top players will be getting in situations where they are training and playing against men……These next two years change dramatically for these two groups of players and at 18 there will be a huge difference in maturity.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TOMORROW
I know you are skipping work. It is ok but just come clean on this website.
PORTO at MANCHESTER UNITED ESPN2 at 1:30
ARSENAL vs. VILLAREAL
Wednesday
Chelsea at Liverpool
Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona
Could we see another all English league final. And English fans just remember how many foreigners are playing for these teams before you get too high on your horse. Just a gentle reminder
U.S. U20 National team
Emailed my friend and former teammate Thomas Rongen to see if he was at RFK Stadium and little did I know that he was in Egypt at the draw for the u20 World Cup.
Ok, I am a slacker not knowing and being aware. Must have still been in that Salt Lake City to DC haze.
By the way it is not fun when your plane is aborted upon landing because another plane is on the runway, nothing like gunning the engines to climb back into the sky.
So I got an email that simply said, ‘I am in Egypt’.
So here is the U.S. under 20 draw for the Fifa Youth World Cup to be played from Sept. 24 - Oct. 16
Germany, Cameroon and the Korea Republic constitute an incredibly diverse and difficult group for the U.S.
I like how coach Thomas Rongen responded.
“We have definetly been drawn into a strong group, perhaps the strongest of the tournament, but that poses a great opportunity,”.
Rongen then went on to say it could be a showcase for U.S. Soccer. This tournament is clearly the most important for Fifa behind the mens World Cup.
Scouts are crawling at this event from clubs from around the globe.

Wow, nice job Glenn. Sounds like you will have your hands full with all those topics, but that is the beauty of our game as there is so much to talk about. Dynamo Fans, Glenn is right let him know your thoughts and concerns about all things going on with the team and the sport in general. Support the Gold Cup matchday this summer, as a great turnout for that event can show the USSF and FIFA that Houston is a great city that supports International Soccer. Wish we could have the Soccer Shows in Houston like this every week, complementing each other on successive days instead of competing with each other at the same time. That way we could keep the buzz going all week leading into the next game.

Lol…I Read the title and thought WOW!!! you had Sir Alex Fergueson on the show! Lol… btw Glenn, I totally agree about having Hainault next to Boswell, and letting Cameron take over the midfield, he would cause SO many problems to the other teams! can’t wait to see this happen! so what kind of time table are we looking at with Hainault getting on the pitch? any chance to get him on the show and ask him? I’m going to have to catch the game on some internet stream, somewhere… i’ve heard of USTREAM.tv, it’s supposed to be free and broadcasts a bunch of games - FREE! anyone else know of others??? can’t wait to listen to the show, Glenn!
-It’s Game On!

You sure have been busy. (BTW, you should see the aborted landing from the cockpit! Now that is exciting. Ask Jim about it!)
I am very interested to see what types of line up movement happens when all the people are healthy/ official papers done. Do you foresee a contantly flexible line up or a set “first string, second string” type? (Thanks for the internet stream as 790 powers down at sunset and does not reach all the way up here in Kingwood then.)
Also, the Dynamo seem to have a lot of talent and depth but have not yet “settled” into a comfort level with each other yet. All the newness is part of it but can not be helped, I suppose. Yes, I think that we are in transition. Just don’t know how far it will go. I trust Coach Kinnear to make the right calls.

Always “game on” Luis!
Thanks for the post and I believe that both Hainault and Akinbiyi hold alot of keys to the future.

Glenn, great lineup. I’ll be listening in my truck in the driveway again…I can’t get my home radio to pick up the show for some reason. Now if I can only get good cell coverage, I might call in too. Just in case, though, I’d love to hear from Dom if he saw anything different from his vantage point during the DC game than his usual sideline spot. His subs in DC came on a lot earlier than usual and I wonder if it’s because he could see the field better than usual.
Keep it up, Glenn. Houston gets much better coverage of the Dynamo than almost every other MLS city get of their team and your show and the insights you share are a big reason why. In fact, the games you mention in your blog or radio show usually end up on my DVR - something that never happened until I started hearing your take on games. Thanks!

Hey Glenn,
Long time no talk. Sounds like all is well with you, as usual. I have a quick question for you - can you give me a little info on what happened with HDNet dropping MLS?
Thanks Glenn. Keep on keeping on…
Simon

Simon,
After 6 years no one really knows…..I don’t even know if HDNET and MLS met. I am as baffled as you are.
Great to hear from you.
Glenn
