Now last Monday night on Dynamo All Access with Glenn Davis on 790 The Sports Animal we talked about the potential of Omar Bravo coming to the Dynamo.
At that time the Dynamo had not made contact with the talented striker who has been languishing on the bench at Deportivo La Coruna.
Bravo now is poised for a return to the Mexican league joining Tigres on a four month loan deal according to Tigres vice president Hector Gonzalez who told Televisa Deportes on Friday: “We are really happy. It was a hard and long negotiation process. Tomorrow we hope to finalise his contract and wait for international clearance. Everything is arranged for his arrival.”
The deal is a loan with an opportunity for Tigres to purchase him. Bravo will wear Tigres yellow for 9 games and hopefully the Liguilla playoffs if the deal gets finalised.
The Deportivo La Coruna website at this moment still does not confirm that Bravo has given his approval. Bravo has suffered with the lone striker tactics of Deportivo and has only played 294 minutes. His lack of playing time has hurt his career with the national team of Mexico where he came off the bench against the U.S.
WHAT IF: The Dynamo apparently were contacted by Bravo’s agent who could possibly have been using the MLS club as a negotiating ploy but could the Dynamo still be in the picture? Yet irregardless of what happens this is positive that agents are paying attention to MLS and Houston. Bravo would have been a “perfect” fit for the Dynamo as a second striker. Bravo could play up front and wide, his work ethic and professionalism has been something to marvel at during his career and of course he would have been an instant idol in Houston and would have boosted attendance by a couple thousand fans per game and caused a media frenzy.
Bravo I believe would have fit into the locker room culture and ethic of Dominic Kinnears squad. He would have been a great on and off field signing addressing alot of criteria.
Hans Westerhof who once was coach at Chivas once told me that Mexican players would benefit greatly by playing in MLS.
ATLANTE in action yesterday
Keeping with their theme of low scoring matches Atlante drew 0-0 at Cruz Azul. They are clearly a team that tries to keep it close and take a goal through limited chances. Atlante only had five shots and one on goal in the match that you might have seen on Azteca tv yesterday.
How much will they venture to commit against the Dynamo on Tuesday. The first goal in this game will really enable either the Dynamo or Atlante to control the tactical game.
The Dynamo after playing Montreal yesterday headed out to Cancun in preparation for Tuesday’s giant game.
Mezzanine Lounge will be hosting a game watching party on Tuesday.
RIBERY TO BARCELONA
Germany media is reporting that Franck Ribery is heading to Barcelona and has reached an agreement and will sign a deal for four years after this season. Is there a better left sided player in the world?
