Dynamo set to move into stadium in 2011

KHOU and Sherry Williams broke a report on what the new Dynamo Stadium will look like on Wednesday.
According to Dynamo team president the stadium is an $80 to $85 million dollar project.
At one point it was being valued well over $100 million.

Now this is big news because I don’t believe AEG wants anything to do with a stadium in the suburbs and may have been prepared to leave town if this deal didn’t occur. I have said it from day one that soccer in Houston needs to be in the shadows of the skyline creating an incredible back-drop. Not to mention giving the Dynamo a real shot at being a successful franchise financially.

Looking at this stadium it is very functional without bells and whistles and one would assume will make the fans happy.

“It’s going to be much more fan friendly in terms of concessions and restrooms and some of the things we just don’t have at Robertson Stadium. More importantly it is going to be much more easier to get to in terms of the parking and access. A rail line will literally run right next to the stadium,” said Luck.

TSU will get a great deal for 2.5 million dollars for the right to play their football games there.
“We’re gonna have our own locker rooms. We’re gonna share the sales for concessions, on ticket sales so it’s gonna be the home of the Texas Southern University fighting tigers,” said TSU Athletic director Charles McClelland.

The Dynamo are expected to take the field in 2011. What do you think of the stadium and are you excited that the Dynamo will be getting into downtown in 2011?

What stadium does this remind you of?

The saga of a Fifa World Player of the year/ Beasley and Edu Play for Rangers/ Dynamo vs. FC Dallas tomorrow

acmilan.jpg

I was asked on a radio show a few months ago about what might be stories to watch in 2009 from the world of football.
My response was around former FIFA WORLD PLAYER of the YEAR RONALDINHO. Would he find his form and passion for football again after leaving BARCELONA for AC MILAN.
RONNALDINHO started out the first half of the season well and has produced 9 goals in all competitions. Yet the amazing talent is riding the pine!
AC MILAN manager CARLO ANCELOTTI is now talking of “compactness” and “balance” in his midfield that currently does not include RONNIE.
The story right now at MILAN is DAVID BECKHAM after producing a passing exhibition in a 3-0 win over Lazio this past weekend.
So what is the future of RONALDINHO ? Word now comes out that MANCHESTER CITY is hoping to acquire him during the summer transfer window (who isn’t linked with Manchester City?)
For now David Beckham, Clarence Seedorf are choices over the Brazilian.

*DAMARCUS BEASLEY and MAURICE EDU both started for RANGERS in an exhbition that drew 45,197 fans in Glasgow. During the 2-2 draw Beasley scored off an assist from Edu. David Beckham played 45 minutes and RONALDINHO did get a start.

*The DYNAMO will take on FC DALLAS tomorrow in an open exhibition match at Robertson Stadium at 10:00 Am. Interesting opportunity for fans to see players in the early stages of pre-season.

*The Dynamo have moved their local broadcasts (17) to KHOU . It is good to see networks continue to understand that their growth in viewership can come through the high-ceiling of soccer and the DYNAMO here in Houston. The Dynamo are going digital…..what are your thoughts? Also eight games will be simulcast on FOX SPORTS HOUSTON.
