KHOU and Sherry Williams broke a report on what the new Dynamo Stadium will look like on Wednesday.
According to Dynamo team president the stadium is an $80 to $85 million dollar project.
At one point it was being valued well over $100 million.
Now this is big news because I don’t believe AEG wants anything to do with a stadium in the suburbs and may have been prepared to leave town if this deal didn’t occur. I have said it from day one that soccer in Houston needs to be in the shadows of the skyline creating an incredible back-drop. Not to mention giving the Dynamo a real shot at being a successful franchise financially.
Looking at this stadium it is very functional without bells and whistles and one would assume will make the fans happy.
“It’s going to be much more fan friendly in terms of concessions and restrooms and some of the things we just don’t have at Robertson Stadium. More importantly it is going to be much more easier to get to in terms of the parking and access. A rail line will literally run right next to the stadium,” said Luck.
TSU will get a great deal for 2.5 million dollars for the right to play their football games there.
“We’re gonna have our own locker rooms. We’re gonna share the sales for concessions, on ticket sales so it’s gonna be the home of the Texas Southern University fighting tigers,” said TSU Athletic director Charles McClelland.
The Dynamo are expected to take the field in 2011. What do you think of the stadium and are you excited that the Dynamo will be getting into downtown in 2011?
What stadium does this remind you of?
