HOUSTON DYNAMO defender EDDIE ROBINSON has been elected into the GREENSBORO Soccer Hall of Fame.
Robinson has been an ALL STAR defender in Major League Soccer and has played for the SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES and the DYNAMO.
The 30 year old ROBINSON will be expected to be a huge focal point defensively for the DYNAMO heading into the 2009 season. Last year his play was inconsistent due to injury and suspension. With BOBBY BOSWELL seeking opportunity in Europe (not signed) the play of ROBINSON will be even more important in the coming year.
The DYNAMO have added young , athletic center-back JULIUS JAMES acquired in the DWAYNE DEROSARIO trade.
PATRICK IANNI does remain an option but the DYNAMO would most likely only re-sign him at a lower deal based on his salary last year which was in the neighborhood of $90,000.
Ianni is currently seeking out other MLS options.
Other DYNAMO options at center-back include CRAIG WAIBEL and GEOFF CAMERON but one senses that CAMERON is being developed to play in the DYNAMO midfield and will be most useful there.
SO depending on how everything shakes out the DYNAMO will need an outstanding ALL STAR type return from ROBINSON.
What do you think the DYNAMO will do at the center back position and will ROBINSON return to his ALL STAR form?
