Altidore loaned to second division / Donovan debuts for Bayern Munich/ Dynamo have a “deal”/

jozy-hat-trick.jpg

*American striker and World Cup hopeful JOZY ALTIDORE who was sold by MLS to VILLAREAL has been loaned by the “yellow submarine” to second division squad XEREZ through the end of the current season. Word of a loan has circled the 19 year old for months and the move could end up being a good one as ALTIDORE needs playing time. WHile at Villareal the teen-ager played in only 6 league games and twice in the Copa Del Rey scoring one goal.
Do you think ALTIDORE will play a significant part in the WORLD CUP in SOUTH AFRICA providing that the U.S. qualify?

So we can all say an official goodbye to our good friend CARLOS RUIZ formerly of Toronto F.C.
Ruiz’s best final moment in MLS in my opinion was his strike during the playoffs against the DYNAMO at ROBERTSON STADIUM in 2007.
Pretty surprised that OLIMPIA in PARAGUAY is the destination…………MARCELO GALLARDO is also on his way back to ARGENTINA from DC UNITED. Lets face it, injury hurt the true litmus test on his effort in MLS, he provided some great moments of skill but should DC UNITED have done another deal with CHRISTIAN GOMEZ who rotted on the bench in COLORADO as opposed to signing GALLARDO……Credit the SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES who got a jersey sponsor in AMWAY. The deal? Two and a half million dollars for 3 years………THE DYNAMO should be credited for being sensitive to the tough economic times. How about the best professional sports package in town.
The MLS package gives fans 15 games for $150, yes it averages out to a ten dollar ticket per game. Grab them while you can by going to HoustonDynamo.com

LANDON DONOVAN DEBUTS FOR BAYERN MUNICH

LD debuted today playing 13 minutes plus stoppage time off the bench in a scintillating BUNDESLIGA match for first place against HAMBURG.
HAMBURG pulled off the home win in front of 60,000 fans with Bayern hammering away at the end with contribution from DONOVAN.
DONOVAN set the table for TIM BOROWOSKi who pulled what could have been a tying goal back.
Donovan played in a wide area on the right…….Did you see it?

Gallardo I was hoping to see settle in a bit, but injuries and all those lineup changes in DC did not make that easy. The “Fish” had been going downhill for a while so I am not very surprised to see him leave the league even though the move to Paraguay is not where I thought he might go.

Good news on the ticket prices, we have the best FO in MLS and with almost all the regular season games being on the weekend no excuse not to make it an event.

Congrats on the Sponsors Glenn, FYI the Texian Army will be having a watch party at the Mezzanine Lounge on Feb 11 for the US – Mexico Game. Kategorie “H” will also be there. More details to follow I am sure, but check http://www.texianarmy.org for news.

  2. Coach H says:

Two high school matches tonight (1 Win and 1 Draw), Two matches tomorrow, and then Chelsea-Scousers on Sunday!

That is my weekend Glenn. I am also working on setting up my coaching staff for when I take over Mexico!

  3. Edwin says:

Well Glenn, you called it on Tuesday, I heard that he was close to signing with Chivas USA out of all people, it made sense they are desperate for a forward who can score in the playoffs, but the reason why he is going to Olimpia of Paraguay is because the coach there knows him, he coached Municipal to a tittle right when Carlos Ruiz left for MLS, I think he might of won a tittle with Ruiz. About a month ago he took Carlos Figueroa from CSD Municipal, an old, old teamate of Carlos in the reserves, and now he has the other Carlos, kind of works out, he has a winger with speed and great crossing ability, and the forward he’s known for years! I guess they have Carlos squared?

Glenn, is the Dynamo announcing Nwenga? or a forward hopefully, maybe someone in their late 20’s who has experience? Oh and Glenn I don’t think I’ll be watching EPL other than Fulham cause of Dempsey, and Everton to see how Howard is doing, but my attention will be on Madrid hopefully they fater so my Barca, the best team in the world right now, can increase their lead to 15! Also looking forward to seeing Hugo’s Almeria against Valencia a better team than Atletico Madrid.

  4. Edwin says:

Glenn, I am shocked at how little coverage, specially from bloggers in soccernet and stuff are giving the transfer of Jozy Altidore to Xerez of the Second Division of Spain, this is a team that is competing to get to La Liga! he will start and need to score, this certainly can help Bob get over his obsession of not playing him, specially in friendlies, or vs the likes of El Salvador and Trinidad! I am a little disappointed Glenn that you wouldn’t even mention this, its huge!

Donovan needs to be more aggresive, he was a little nervous did you see that shot Ribery set him up with? He hit with the outside of his foot, when he should of adjusted slightly to rip it with his inside to curve it left to right and get it past the tall and lenghty Lehmann!

Gallardo is washed up, he has no desire to thrive here, Cuautemoc amazingly does, Claudio Lopez has an interest, Juan Pablo Angel does, Luciano Emilio, hey Glenn you don’t think that Houston can sign a DP from South America or Central America? Maybe Suazo, he is about to hit 30? I hear that Ze Roberto might go to MLS, Dallas supposedly according to the Goltv commentators, I was like, didn’t FC learn from Denilson, although it looks like Ze Roberto still has alot of gas in the tank!

  5. alton says:

    Glenn,

How do you get the Dynamo 15 games for $150 package? I went to the dynamo website and all I could find was the full season, 10 game and 5 game plan. I watched the Bayern game, just wish Klins would have put Donovan in sooner and for Klose instead of Schweinsteiger. Keep up the good work. Go Dynamo!

  6. Edwin says:

alton, the 15 game package, is the full season.. There’s 30 games and 15 home and 15 away

  7. glenndavis says:

    Alton,
I suggest you call the Dynamo front office and ask for the MLS package.
Basically a season ticket package for the home 15 mls games at $10 per ticket.
    Amazing value!
