Twellman on the move? Mexican league playoffs….

cruzazullogo01.gif

A 1-1 draw at ATLANTE advances CRUZ AZUL to the Mexican League final to take on the aggregate winner of TOLUCA and SANTOS.
The “Blue Machine” advances based on an aggregate score of 4-2.

So will CUAUHTEMOC BLANCO win the title with SANTOS? Or is it GERARDO TORRADO, MIGUEL SABAH and CESAR VILLALUZ and the maquina?

Another rumor that floats in MLS is the potential of TAYLOR TWELLMAN moving from the NE Revolution. One destination is the LA GALAXY apparently which in some ways would be ironic since then U.S. manager did not select TWELLMAN for the 2006 World Cup squad. Arena chose BRIAN CHING over T&T.
Now no one knows for sure but this could make sense since TWELLMAN seems due for a change from NE.
And by the way, is NE really in integrity about finding a new stadium? Or will the KRAFT family continue to play out in the hinterlands of Foxborough in front of small crowds. Is this really growing the sport and the franchise? I think not…

You didn’t have to figure out that DUILIO DAVINO was going to get off-loaded by FC DALLAS. Davino didn’t play well and was caught in poor positions on many goals conceded throughout the season. If you don’t believe me go back and look at the tape.
Now I am not suggesting Davino didn’t give effort but having played with players that are masters of doing enough to look like they are giving maximum effort……If the shoe fits.

In Tampa today it is CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ Hills in the NCAA Division 2 Final against DOWLING OF NY.
Note of interest for DYNAMO fans is that CSDH is where KEI KAMARA played while DOWLING is where GUY ROLAND K-PENE won a national title in 2006. K-PENE’s future with the DYNAMO could be in doubt with the recent changes in MLS rosters and the dis-banding of reserve teams.

Toni Bayern hero/ The Blue Machine looks to advance

Greetings from Tampa Florida. I am here to cover the NCAA Division 2 National Championships.

Today on the womens side SEATTLE PACIFIC will take on the UNIVERSITY of WEST FLORIDA while in tomorrow’s mens final CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS (KEI KAMARA’s college team) will take on DOWLING of NEW YORK (GUY ROLAND K-PENE’s college team).

There is a real refreshing air around this competition with the commitment and effort of these student-athletes.
Pepin Stadium in Tampa is a great venue, with a great surface and the downtown skyline of Tampa in the background.

The games can be seen on CBS TV. On an additional note it is amazing how poor the TAMPA newspaper coverage has been for a University hosting a national championship minutes away from their office. Not only that, but they have a local team in the tournament on the mens side. Simply amazing and poor coverage.

* LUCA TONI came to the rescue for BAYERN MUNICH as they beat Bundesliga leaders HOFFENHEIM 2-1 with his late goal.
The two clubs are now even at the top of the standings. Toni pounced on a poor clearance.

* OLYMPQUE MARSEILLE fan SANTSO MIRASIERRA could face three and a half years in prison for assaulting police officers at a Champions league match. MIRASIERRA can appeal.

* CRUZ AZUL barring a disaster against ATLANTE is in poll position to advance the MFL final today. CRUZ AZUL won the first league 3-1. Don’t forget to support your sport in the media and be active both during the Dynamo season and in the off-season.
Your efforts to call in to talk shows, watch games and make yourself heard influences network heads. Catch my radio show this Wednesdy night on 790 The Sports Animal as we talk the worlds game and continue to look at the Dynamo needs in the off season.

Additional defender, goalkeeper and striker seems to be in the cards……Don’t forget that additional cover at left back can come from CORY ASHE, additional cover at center back can come from CAMERON and CRAIG WAIBEL if he is re-signed. The Dynamo have two players out of contract in WADE BARRETT and BOBBY BOSWELL.
