DAVID BECKHAM has been called into FABIO CAPELLO’s ENGLAND squad for upcoming matches on October 11 and October 15 against KAZAKHSTAN and BELARUS. The GALAXY along with BECKHAM are due in Houston on the the 18th to take on the DYNAMO before what should be a sold out crowd at ROBERTSON STADIUM.
Sounds great right, BECKHAM will be done with international duty and will easily have time to return. No conflict here
?
Except for the fact that he picked up a yellow card in the 1-0 loss at COLUMBUS this weekend. The yellow means BECKHAM has to serve a suspension which could jeopardize his playing availability in HOUSTON.
The GALAXY play at home against COLORADO with BECKHAM gone on international duty so technically his suspension would be served in Houston on the 18th.
Now Houston is the only MLS city that the “BECKHAM EXPERIENCE” has not landed in so it would be ashame if he does not come.
This is a dilemma for MLS because if the rules are altered they will be criticised, if BECKHAM does not show it will be a huge disappointment for many in Houston yet it won’t take away from the REAL STORY which is the DYNAMO heading for a third straight MLS CUP title which has never been achieved in MLS…….
The LEAGUE OPERATIONS MANUAL STATES THE FOLLOWING: Any player unavailable for a game due to international duty will have their suspension held over until they return to the team. ACCORDING TO THIS RULE BECKHAM WOULD SERVE HIS SUSPENSION DURING LA’S GAME IN HOUSTON.
