The DYNAMO will hopefully get their game played tonite at RFK. The old stadium has been snake-bitten but still remains one of the great environments in MLS, that is provided the lights come on. The Dynamo will have a full roster tonite except for Richard Mulrooney (Knee) and Rico Clark (suspended). You can only imagine how much scrambling occurred when this announcement was made yesterday with flight arrangements, players headed to the Olympics and All Star game………lots of other variables to consider for Dynamo staff and players……..

With the EPL season right around the corner, Sir ALEX FERGUSON is already firing up Chelsea coach FELIPE SCOLARI. Ferguson has been quoted as saying “I’m not concerned about Chelsea” and “Avram Grant did a good job and Mourinho won the title two years in a row and beat us in the F.A. Cup Final”. How is that for a wind-up to the new Chelsea boss.
Ferguson loves to work the media and lets face it brings alot of “edge” and “showmanship” to the EPL……a few more quotes from MLS coaches like this would do well to market the league. And on that note….lets just hope that all MLS players realize where the league is and where it was (dire trouble a few years ago). The times may be good now relative to the past but lets not rest on the laurels…….this league has a long way to go and players should always make themselves available to the media to promote the awareness of the sport….I believe that is in the job description of players signing in this league.

*RED CARD….this is laughable and sad. We go to South America where UNION ESPANOLA midfielder Francisco Castillo was found guilty of stealing mobile phones. He was sentenced to 541 days on parole. His movements will be monitored and he will not be dismissed by the club. Teammates have been said to be monitoring their cell phones closely.

*OLYMPIC participation is not coming easy for all yet HAMBURG has jumped in line allowing 22 year old Belgian VINCENT KOMPANY to participate in the Olympics. Meanwhile SCHALKE and WERDER BREMEN are upset that players RAFINHA and DIEGO have joined up with BRAZIL for Olympic preparation. So how important are the Olympic soccer games really in the vein of everything? Tell me…..

*One of the great scenario’s to keep an eye on in the upcoming BUNDESLIGA season will be JURGEN KLINSMANN coaching BAYERN MUNICH. It will be interesting to see if the German messiah and inspirational leader can do it on a daily basis with a club as large as BAYERN who are thirsting to get back into the limelight…

*Silently scoring goals is ANTE RAZOV of CHIVAS USA who now has 6 goals in 6 games…….

* You remember Brazilian striker BARE right of GAMBA OSAKA….hit for a hat trick against the DYNAMO in the PAN PACIFIC CUP…..he is set to leave GAMBA OSAKA for AL AHLI in the UNITED ARAB EMIRATES….The 26 year old would have been a great fit for MLS…….

*DYNAMO tonite vs DC on CHANNEL 55 and 790thesportsanimal plus tomorrow night you can catch the MLS ALL STARS against WEST HAM UNITED on ESPN2 but most importantly get set for PACHUCA and the DYNAMO in the SUPERLIGA next TUESDAY at ROBERTSON….this is gonna be a “beauty”.

To all the great soccer fans your support of the sport in the media is making a huge difference………

  1. I was at that Pan Pacific game, and BARE was impresssive. Gamba Osaka had 2 o3 3 other Brazilian players on their squad as well, and all looked good. Not to mention several Japanese players that were impressive.
I remember wondering why MLS clubs don’t try signing players from the J League. I would assume that the Money would be similar and would fit into the salary cap senario that MLS clubs have to deal with.

    Anyone have any insight??

  2. This is a tough one. I personally love the olypics being the huge sports fan that I am. In my eyes the olypics means a great deal to me, remember how ashamed I was of the U.S. men’s basketball team in 04′ and their performance playing like a bunch of individuals, but there are many more great memories that come to mind from the olypics such as Carl Lewis, Ben Johnson, Keri Strung, can’t remember guys name but the one who’s dad came and helped him finish the race and of course the U.S. hockey team shocking the world along with many others.

I can understand where the clubs are coming from being concerned about there players, but if anybody should be worried it should be the lower level leagues who can’t go out and spend like crazy, and losing a player to injury for them would hurt much worse than it would for Schalke and Werder Bremen who have the means to go out and snag sombody in the transfer window. Let the boys play and represent their country (I wonder if Germany were in the tourney if they would have a problem letting the German kids go play then).

  3. This is a little off topic but as the new seasons in Europe are creeping around the corner and advertisements for each teams new uniforms, I got to thinking that the Dynamo should have a 3rd Jersey for their international play. Similar to the way that Juventus wore the blue jersey\’s with yellow starrs in the Champions League several years back. It just creates a different mind set for players and fans alike. Imagine getting excited for the Superliga semi-final against Pachuca and knowing that the Dynamo will be in their international kit Which is all black with accents of bright orange!

If at all possible I think that this idea should find its way to Oliver Luck if it hasnt already been talked about.

See you all at the Dynamo game next Tuesday at 9:00.

  4. Im glad Rafinha and Diego took that stance against their clubs…the promotors and clubs have become too strong…you see it coming from all over the place now. I don’t want soccer to become like MLB or the NBA, where players would rather ’sit out’ during the Olympics or any national team game. I hate seeing things like this happen in those leagues where it seems players and the league themselves care more about the money than the nationalism involved in representing your beloved country…

I hope Blatter does something about it…he’s at least calling out all the teams that don’t want their u-23 s go to the games and making them comply…

but I thnk if a player over 23 is called up and under some circumstances means a lot to him to play in the Olympics, he should be given the chance to do so by his club…

  5. I am NOT expecting much out of either of our national soccer teams in the Olympics. Losing Wambach was huge. We barely beat Brazil without Marta et al here with Abby. Pia will get some real attention if she can win the gold. The number of top level players choosing to play for their national men’s Olympic teams also doesn’t bode well for us. I agree with Del piero’s idea. I expect Oliver will probably jump on it. It is like the trades, acquisitions, and releases he has made. There doesn’t seem to be a trick that Luck has missed (other than this ridiculous Stadium “negotiations” process).

  6. I disagree about the comments on the US Men Olympic team. They have good enough talent with capibilities of reaching far. I’m not expecting GOld either, but you can’t just discard the idea of them not accomplishing anything! I say stick with the original 2 jerseys we have already! No need for a 3rd. Just like Boca, you don’t see them wearing a Third jersey in the Libertatdores or in the FIFA World Cup of clubs. Keep it short and sweet, where people can easily identify and remember who the Dynamo are!

  7. I love the 3rd kit idea (some of us just don’t look good in orange). Make it happen Oliver. Go Dynamo
