The Dynamo and Chivas USA getting knocked out of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is not a surprise.
MLS teams will always try to be competitive in this tournament but will continue in the future to de-value this event yet it also can benefit the winner as it gives passage into the Concacaf Champions Cup.
That is not to say that on the day teams are not trying to win but at some point certain games and competitions must be prioritized. Sadly the LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP suffers with SUPERLIGA and CONCACAF CHAMPIONS CUP now top dogs on the totem poll with prize money and prestige not to mention league play.
The soccer landscape at the professional level is confusing for the most serious of fans. So what does it look like to the casual fan?
The Dynamo were ousted by Charleston last night on penalty kicks while Seattle defeated Chivas USA. These nights now become opportunity for younger players and you can be sure that USL 1 teams take these games serious.
Former Houston area youth product JOSH GARDNER produced an assist on one of the goals for SEATTLE and played a solid 90 minutes. Gardner played for three seasons with the LA GALAXY and was a member of an MLS CUP winning side.
FC Dallas and New England did advance beating Miami FC and the Richmond Kickers.

DYNAMO team president OLIVER LUCK said during DYNAMO ALL ACCESS with GLENN DAVIS that they are working on a deal with NATE JACQUA potentially returning to the the Dynamo for the remainder of the season and then moving on to the SEATTLE SOUNDERS. JACQUA has a strong desire apparently to get back to the Northwest. The Dynamo would essentially be renting Jacqua. What do you think of this idea?

FERNANDO TORRES TO HOUSTON…..

SPAIN’s star striker will be in Houston this Saturday night to participate in the FREE KICK MASTERS skills competition along with RONALDINHO, LIONEL MESSI, DECO, RAFA MARQUEZ, LUIS FABIANO , ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO and DYNAMO stars DWAYNE DEROSARIO and BRAD DAVIS.

  1. I think Jaqua is a great addition, specially if Ching were to get injured. I still, however, would like to see the Dynamo sign a great running forward who can create chances for himself. Sadly, Caraccio is still learning. I don’t want them to go splash money on a “superstar” that might not produce (take Gallardo for instance) but I want them to sign someone who can score goals (McBride would be great). I’d like the team to remain humble. There’s more prestige in winning The MLS Cup without a designated player. And for the love of God, why is Cory Ashe still wearing a Dynamo shirt? Can’t we just look to find someone to back up Davis when he’s hurt?

  2. Glenn, I think Nate would be a good addition to the team, allowing DeRo to play his preferred midfield position. That may be the spark to move this team forward although I still think they need a playmaker type player. A good passer that can get the strikers the ball in the position they want it. Heres hoping the Dynamo get Nate for the rest of the year.

  3. What happened to the Joesph Ngwenya thing? Nate wasnt my favorite but he did play well with us. As for what Jose said……what are you talking about? Ashe has been very solid for us since Davis was injured seeing this is his first season with alot of starts and has even scored a goal. the kid is a horse when it comes to his energy and work ethic. I dont know which Ashe you are watching

  4. I think this isn’t the best decision, it doesn’t help us at all in my opinion. still no threat to get in behind defenses, but if chingy goes down this was never posted and the thought never crossed my mind. What is the up with the MLS scheduling a cup game and a league game 2 days apart, not saying they have the easiest job, but i can almost guarentee you that the galaxy will not play 2 games in 50 hours (can they at least give us some extra money to spend to bring in a couple of players so guys aren’t playing 210 min. in 50 hours) REDICULOUS!!!
