U.S. goalkeeper Kasey Keller speaks/ Dynamo vs. FC Dallas/ Turkey vs. Germany

Catch U.S. goalkeeping legend Kasey Keller’s interview with Glenn Davis on 790thesportsanimal.com
Keller was the first ever U.S. player to play on a U.S. passport in England.

Keller weighs in on Fulham’s amazing run to stay in the Premier league, incentives offered by their owner Mohammed El Fayed (this will interest you for sure), MLS not paying goalkeepers, tips for youth goalkeepers, and his stoning of Brazil’s Romario in a historic U.S. victory and his July 5th visit to participate in the Free Kick Masters skills competition.

DYNAMO VS FC DALLAS

*The Dynamo take on FC Dallas at Robertson Stadium on Thursday night (ESPN2). Injuries seemingly will rob the Dynamo of Richard Mulrooney and Eddie Robinson so Dominic Kinnear will once again have to put out a line-up minus key players. Will the Dynamo manager play Dwayne DeRosario up front and continue with Stuart Holden and Ricardo Clark in central midfield? What will be the best lineup in your opinion against FC Dallas who now are coached by former SMU coach Shellas Hyndman?

Lets get ready for great international soccer when the Dynamo take on ATLANTE and CHIVAS of Mexico during the SUPERLIGA in July. This will be some of the most emotion filled games of the year.

FREE KICK MASTER PROFILE: LUKAS POLDOLSKI (Germany and Bayern Munich)

“Goals are the essence of soccer and free kick goals are often very beautiful. I hope this event helps to attract many new spectators to the game of soccer and particularly to league games in MLS.” Lukas Poldolski

*See Podolski on July 5th in the FREE KICK MASTERS skills competition at Reliant Stadium.

SEMI-FINALS are set for Euro 2008

WEDNESDAY : GERMANY vs. TURKEY
THURSDAY: RUSSIA vs. SPAIN

Let face it. ITALY was playing for a prayer and a hope to win during regulation and was not at all upset about going to penalty kicks without their most creative influence Andrea Pirlo. In the end the right team advanced . The team that came to TRY and create. SPAIN advanced but in the end could not figure out the defending deep Italians.

As for the NETHERLANDS all I can say is what was put in their drinking water? Talk about not living up to the moment against Russia……They produced little of that early round flair and in fact learned a lesson from RUSSIA who produced some of the most exciting and entertaining soccer of the tournament from players that did not receive nearly the hype that others have gotten. Will not be surprised to see them in the final.

DYNAMO IN SUPERLIGA IN JULY

*I love when the Dynamo take on competition internationally.
The Dynamo will take on ATLANTE AND CHIVAS at Robertson Stadium in July so don’t miss these great games that bring even more additional passion !!!!
Results like last years win over CLUB AMERICA only bode well for the growth of MLS.

Dynamo draw at Colorado/ Italy vs. Spain/ Free Kick Masters tryout today

colorado2008.jpg

The Dynamo earned a road point last night at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
The two teams cancelled each other out tactically for most of the night and clear cut chances were held to a minimum.
The Dynamo’s best chance came off a Brad Davis free kick in the second half which went off the crossbar while the Rapids Colin Clark had a header go off the post in the final minutes.
The Dynamo played without Richard Mulrooney who stayed home to rest a sore knee but welcomed back captain Wade Barrett in his normal left back position. Both teams failed to make use of wide play on the larger surface yet the few times they did they seemed dangerous.
Colorado’s Pablo Maestroeni was solid playing as a central defender in a classic match-up with Dynamo striker Brian Ching who had a goal called back for a hand ball.
The Dynamo are next up this Thursday on ESPN2 taking on rivals FC Dallas and new coach Shellas Hyndman.

ITALY VS. SPAIN today on ESPN 1:30

This classic match-up will end the quarterfinal phase and my feeling today is Italy will knock off Spain who have played some entertaining soccer in group play. One of the best goalkeepers in the world in Gianluigi Buffoon taking on David Villa, Fernando Torres and company. Your prediction?

Dutch disaster as Russia win 3-1/Dynamo on HDNET tonite/ Free Kick Masters

russiaceleb412.jpg

RUSSIA thoroughly outplayed the NETHERLANDS in Euro 2008 Quarterfinal action today winning 3-1 in extra time.
Russia produced the better quality soccer over the course of this day leaving the NETHERLANDS wondering what hit them.
After ROMAN PAVLYCHENKO’s goal gave Russia a 1-0 lead it looked like it would stand until with five minutes left a Ruud Van Nistlerooy header tied things up. At that point you might have begun to favor momentum swinging in the Dutch favor but it never came throughout the day nor did it come in the extra sessions. In fact Russia took the second overtime session over slicing apart the Dutch defense producing two goals from DIMITRI TORBINSKY and ANDREI ARSHAVIN.
ARSHAVIN who plays for ZENIT ST. PETERSBURG throughout the day was fantastic…….RUSSIA deserved this one as the NETHERLANDS exit disappointingly………….TOMORROW it is SPAIN and ITALY for more must watch tv.

Both the DYNAMO and COLORADO are expected to play a number of players back from international duty tonite in Colorado.
Dynamo Richard Mulrooney did not make the trip due to a sore knee and will be rested which means the Dynamo lineup may shift around a bit tonite for Dominic Kinnear.
Same goes for Colorado and Fernando Clavijo who has used youth in the abscence of name players like Pablo Maestroeni and Ugo Ihemulu.

FREE KICK MASTERS are putting on a tryout for one lucky player to participate in the FREE KICK MASTERS event July 5th at RELIANT STADIUM. Head over to KICKS INDOOR on Sheperd tomorrow to tryout to be in the competition with RONALDINHO and LIONEL MESSI…..pretty cool stuff for the lucky winner. For more info FREEKICKMASTERS.COM

Dynamo at Colorado on HDNET tonite/ Netherlands Russia at 1:30/ FKM Tryout

THE DYNAMO are at COLORADO tonite but you wouldn’t know it by the newspaper coverage here in Denver. But what I did learn in the paper today is that the COLORADO CRUSH and DENVER OUTLAWS the Arena Football and Lacrosse team will both be playing at the same time a the RAPIDS and DYNAMO tonite Both are apparently owned by Kroencke Sports. Amazing.
BRIAN CHING will be back in the lineup for the DYNAMO tonite which will be a welcomed addition on the large surface at altitude. His ability to hold the ball will be important tonite.
PABLO MAESTROENI and UGO IHEMULU should be back in the RAPIDS lineup but don’t expect TERRY COOKE to get a start who seems to be out of favor. The Dynamo will need to keep in check OMAR CUMMINGS who can fly up front and CHRISTIAN GOMEZ who did not start in Toronto. TOM MCMANUS also has three goals up front.
DWAYNE DEROSARIO scored twice against ST Vincent last night in a 4-1 win and both he and PAT ONSTAD are expected to fly in. How will they be used?

I am just catching my breath after watching the repeat of Croatia and Turkey. Amazing drama and unexpected which just reminds us about the surprises the game can bring us all. So today on ABC the NETHERLANDS will take on RUSSIA . This is can’t miss television. Will ARJEN ROBBEN, ROBIN VAN PERSIE and company keep advancing to that GERMANY AND NETHERLANDS final that I desire?

THE FREE KICK MASTERS tryout will be tomorrow from 9am to 5pm at KICKS INDOOR on Sheperd near Washington.
Tryout and you could be the lucky winner who ends up on the field to compete in the skills competition on July 5th at RELIANT STADIUM with the likes of LIONEL MESSI AND RONALDINHO, FERNANDO TORRES, ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO, DECO, HARRY KEWELL to name a few.

Turkey knocks out Croatia/ Netherlands vs. Russia Saturday

soc_a_huntelaar1_412.jpg

Turkey knocked out Croatia on penalty kicks after an improbable comeback in extra time. Croatia scored, celebrated and thought they had it won only to concede a tying goal. Turkey then won on penalty kicks. How much did this hurt Croatia whose entire country’s hopes and dreams fell with their national team?
As for Turkey they will be missing some key players against Germany where I think the road will end. Numerous Turks live in Germany and their are alot of connections with the two footballing nations.

Netherlands vs. Russia Saturday

*Interesting storyline is Dutchman Guus Hiddink as the manager of Russia. Hiddink knows the tendencies and inviduals that comprise the Netherlands. Either way, Russia does not have the quality to compete with the “orange”.

DYNAMO at COLORADO HDNET 8:30 PM SATURDAY AT STAGS HEAD PUB

Catch the game in high definition from Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
Important game for both of these squads.
More on this tomorrow.

Germany advances to semi-finals defeating Portugal 3-2/ Take Free Kicks with Ronaldinho!/Dynamo vs Colorado

ballackk-412.jpg

GERMANY advanced to the semi-finals of Euro 2008 knocking off CRISTIANO RONALDO and PORTUGAL 3-2 at St. Jakob Park in Switzerland.
Goals from Bastian Scweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose and Michael Ballack produced the goals while Nuno Gomes and Helder Postiga scored for Portugal.
Did Ballack foul the Portuguese defender before his header? Sure looked like it ?

Italy advances with win over France/ You can participate in the Free Kick Masters

italy412celebe.jpg

Italy defeated France 2-0 today behind goals from Andrea Pirlo and Daniele De Rossi and have advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Championships.
So Italy who took it on the chin from the Netherlands to start the tournament now has to be looked upon as a potential to win it. Why not?
So what happens now as we head into the knock-out stages? Do teams become gripped by fear and play more pragmatic football? Lets hope not but I am sure it will happen to some squads.

To see the best, don’t miss Messi

See Leo Messi on July 5th at Reliant Stadium compete in the Free Kick Masters skills competition!!
Every time a player with skill emerges from Argentina, he quickly gets dubbed “the new Diego Maradona,” a reference to one of the game’s greatest players. Such are the wants and desires from the soccer-mad nation of Argentina.

Enter Lionel Messi, 21, the Barcelona attacker who doubles as the face of the Argentine national team.

As it is with many of the greats, the game seems to come to him so easily and naturally. An artist? Yes. Soccer genius? You might say so.

“He is the closest thing to Maradona,” said Dynamo striker Franco Caraccio, who hails from Argentina. “The hopes of the Argentine people rest with him.”

Watch Argentina or Barcelona, and your eyes are quickly drawn to El Pulga (translation: The Flea). Messi possesses it all: vision and ability to make the correct pass; out-of-this-world close control; agility to dart through spaces that seemingly have closed off; breathtaking dribbling skills and ability to start and stop and change direction.

Couple this with his finishing skills and free-kick mastery, and he is the complete package. He’s even left-footed.

Messi is a world star through performance, not off-field promotion.

All this from a slender kid who signed his initial Barcelona contract on a paper napkin supplied by then-youth team coach Carlos Rexach.

Today, Messi carries dual citizenship with Argentina and Spain after arriving in Barcelona as a 13-year-old during the Argentine economic crisis.

In the United States, where a small but talented player can be written off, Messi serves as an example to all.

Fans of Mexico will remember his goal against El Tri in the….for more on this click here.
