The move of Mullen to forward with Ashe on the wing worked great. NY could not deal with the extra speed very well and the runs of both players opened things up for Ching. I would like to see Brian perform better with his control of balls played in to him. I think he should have had 2 goals and could have had 3 with a better job controlling the ball turning and getting the ball on target. I hope to see more of this combination moving forward.

Clark was excellent in midfield last night and really was the glue that kept things flowing for the Dynamo. Fortunately, Angel was not available for NY last night. I think the Dynamo would have had real problems containing him AND keeping close tabs on Altidore.

On a down note, I think Holden was disappointing overall. He had a few good passes and some good timely tackles, however, he had a few good opportunities to deliver passes that would have created excellent scoring chances and he was off the mark. Ditto for Cameron. Cameron’s energy level was poor. He is young and should be fit enough to run hard the whole game. There were several 50/50 balls and balls running out of play that he could have given full effort to track down and created something as a result and he just did not do that. There was a very casual attitude to his game all night. This was summed up around the 78th? minute when Mullen flew down the left side and looked to deliver a cross, Cameron had acres of space in front of him at the far post and no marker but just lazily jogged forward instead of storming into the area. As a result, Mullen had to pull the ball back and the opportunity was left wanting. Very frustrating. Dom needs to light a fire under his arse.

Great job of managing the available players by Dom. He got it right last night.
