In all the hype of the Champions League I have lost sight of the Mexican league playoffs which are always entertaining and exciting. Here is the set-upt:

Today at 5pm: CRUZ AZUL vs. SAN LUIS at Estadio Azul in Mexico City (Cruz Azul lead 1-0 on aggregate)

Sunday at 5pm: MONTERREY at SANTOS at Estadio Corona (aggregate 1-1)

PREDICTION: CRUZ AZUL VS SANTOS FINAL

*NOTE* Santos def/mid EDGAR CASTILLO grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Mexican parents and has dual citizenship.
Castillo played in the ODP system but slipped through the cracks to go back to play in Mexico and was ultimately capped by Mexico and then coach Hugo Sanchez. “El Homie” the nickname given to Castillo slipped through the cracks.
Note that Michael Orozco who also would be eligible for Mexico is in the 22 player roster for the U.S./England game this week.
More than ever U.S. soccer has to keep track of it’s players that have eligibility to play for Mexico or else they could be representing the “tricolore”.
Interesting story that continues as Castillo apparently has had interest from England.

BOCA OUT

Websites have indicated that Carlos Bocanegra is out at Fulham which seemed to be in the cards. Is he on his way back to MLS? I know a few teams that could use an experienced central defender ……..
