Attending DYNAMO practice today at Carl Lewis Track and Field Stadium I was astonished to all of sudden see Dynamo midfielder BRAD DAVIS on the ground. Ultimately Dynamo trainer Theron Enns was leaning over Davis, escorted him off the field and away he went on a four wheeler to the Dynamo locker room. Word is he may have strained his groin which I would think makes him up in the air for Saturday night against Chivas USA. No good.
It was also interesting to watch one local tv station come out to Dynamo practice to do a piece on the Championship ring (one day it will be to preview the game) and then just up and leave after being there for about 25 minutes without doing their piece. I guess the Rockets were calling.
This is shaping up to be a big game Saturday night.
The Dynamo are the only team in MLS without a win (saying that they could easily have won their last three and it wasn’t like they were played off the field) and have a different pressure.
A pressure that means they need to re-gain some attention grabbing here on the Houston sports landscape. Why you might say? Because in the world of professional sports it is a daily struggle to remain in the eyes of the public. It is especially important now that the stadium issue remains up in the air. There is no better way to support the stadium than to be present at Dynamo home games. Be heard.
The DYNAMO will also be presented their Championship rings for the 2007 season and fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7pm Saturday night. The game will be broadcast on HDNET and MLS Direct Kick.
I am interested to see the Dynamo fan turn-out this Saturday at Robertson….
RANGERS ousted FIORENTINA on penalty kicks 4-2 at Fiorentina and they are on their way to the UEFA Cup Final in Manchester.
CHRISTINA VIERI missed a penalty kick for Fiorentina and NACHO NOVO converted the winner for Rangers. Yes Vieri’s career is phasing out……..Rangers will take on Zenit St. Petersburg. And I remember the days of the Cup Winners Cup.
Another club in the JOZY ALTIDORE potential destination sweepstakes is VILLAREAL in Spain according to Spanish publication AS.
My non soccer rant of the day goes to the guy on the Dallas Mavericks (sorry forgot his name) who was passing out invitations to his birthday while his team was down 3-1 in the playoffs. Now there is a teammate that I would want……I guy who really appreciates his opportunity in the NBA……and what a dependable teammate to boot. How focused was this guy?
Glenn

By the way, Glenn, you are invited to my birthday party. It is Saturday night. I am forgetting the Dynamo game and going to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese. All the coke and pizza you can handle Glenn!
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Come on Glenn, what station was it?
I think the player in Dallas was Josh Howard.
How has Joseph Ngwenya been doing (is he playing) and is their still a chance he may come back if his team is relegated?
We need a loud stadium Saturday night.

Bring it on, I am always up for a pizza and great entertainment.
Ngwenya I think is a great possibility during the summer transfer window and you can be the Dynamo are going to contact him.
Jacqua got his 5th in Austria recently………….

Glenn, in one of the comments under the previous Donovan post, you wrote “Greatest team in the world is Chelsea.” Did you mean that at face value, or did I misread?
I think it’d be hard to argue against Man U being the greatest. I’m not a big fan of either team, but Man U is just too potent when it’s clicking.
Chelsea may be the hottest team right now, though. They’ve closed the gap on Man U in the EPL and dispatched a feisty Liverpool in the Champions League.

Glenn,
I just got done watching the Rangers-Fiorintina game and watching Rangers play was embarassing. I am not a fan of teams that sit back and defend, defend, defend. When you don’t take a shot until the 85th minute, that is embarassing. I hope Zenit runs them out of Old Trafford because the way they dispatched of Bayern Munich today was classic!
Watching the Red Bull and TFC game now and I wanted to know what you think about the artificial surfaces. It definitely gives TFC and advantage, although RBNY used it to their advantage on their goal, but how do you think this will affect the Champions League final with Man U and Chelsea? I remember seeing England and Russia play at the Luzhniki Stadium (I hope I spelled it right), and it really gave an advantage to the Russian then.
Also, Claudio Reyna just left the Red Bull game with an injury. Surprised?
