Davis leaves practice injured, Dynamo pressure increases for Saturday night

Attending DYNAMO practice today at Carl Lewis Track and Field Stadium I was astonished to all of sudden see Dynamo midfielder BRAD DAVIS on the ground. Ultimately Dynamo trainer Theron Enns was leaning over Davis, escorted him off the field and away he went on a four wheeler to the Dynamo locker room. Word is he may have strained his groin which I would think makes him up in the air for Saturday night against Chivas USA. No good.
It was also interesting to watch one local tv station come out to Dynamo practice to do a piece on the Championship ring (one day it will be to preview the game) and then just up and leave after being there for about 25 minutes without doing their piece. I guess the Rockets were calling.

This is shaping up to be a big game Saturday night.
The Dynamo are the only team in MLS without a win (saying that they could easily have won their last three and it wasn’t like they were played off the field) and have a different pressure.
A pressure that means they need to re-gain some attention grabbing here on the Houston sports landscape. Why you might say? Because in the world of professional sports it is a daily struggle to remain in the eyes of the public. It is especially important now that the stadium issue remains up in the air. There is no better way to support the stadium than to be present at Dynamo home games. Be heard.
The DYNAMO will also be presented their Championship rings for the 2007 season and fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7pm Saturday night. The game will be broadcast on HDNET and MLS Direct Kick.
I am interested to see the Dynamo fan turn-out this Saturday at Robertson….

RANGERS ousted FIORENTINA on penalty kicks 4-2 at Fiorentina and they are on their way to the UEFA Cup Final in Manchester.
CHRISTINA VIERI missed a penalty kick for Fiorentina and NACHO NOVO converted the winner for Rangers. Yes Vieri’s career is phasing out……..Rangers will take on Zenit St. Petersburg. And I remember the days of the Cup Winners Cup.

Another club in the JOZY ALTIDORE potential destination sweepstakes is VILLAREAL in Spain according to Spanish publication AS.

My non soccer rant of the day goes to the guy on the Dallas Mavericks (sorry forgot his name) who was passing out invitations to his birthday while his team was down 3-1 in the playoffs. Now there is a teammate that I would want……I guy who really appreciates his opportunity in the NBA……and what a dependable teammate to boot. How focused was this guy?
