Seems to me the real ‘hard core” Dynamo fans made it out for the rare international competition at Robertson.
These “international nights” are moments that are so memorable and help to create the club’s history.
It’s pretty obvious that Saprissa did not come to play and in the end for them it was mission accomplished yet not producing a goal has now created a new opportunity for the Dynamo. To get a historic win at Saprissa in Costa Rica.
Enough of the focus on the hostile environment, its now time to focus on creating a historic win for the club down in Costa Rica next Wednesday. It can happen and could set up a mouth watering final against Pachuca/DC United winner. Pachuca holds a 2-0 edge.
Out here in Chicago Cuahutemoc Blanco weighed in on the Hugo Sanchez firing saying that the press was after Sanchez the minute he got the job and that the players all supported Sanchez. I have spoken to Pavel Pardo before when Ricardo LaVolpe was the coach and he said Hugo Sanchez was consistently a problem around the national team with his insistence on being publicy critical of LaVolpe. My interpretation is you reap what you sow. Brash, bold outrageous predictions and a focus on self in the beginning of his tenure as coach created animosity and unrealistic expectations besides making many feel that he felt he was more important than “EL Tri”. Yes the press was gunning for Hugo in Mexico yet I believe that he would still have the job if not for his ego……
Did you see the guy jump illegally off the Eiffel Tower in Paris with a Red Bull Energy drink parachute? Can’t wait to see what the next promo for Red Bull in MLS will be. How about off the Trump Tower, Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building in New York. Whoever does the job needs to wear a Juan Pablo Angel jersey.
Please help us support www.nicksteam.org, the work that is being done at Texas Childrens Hospital in our town is amazing. The courage of the children to the efforts of the staff at this hospital are amazing. One walk through that hospital makes you realize alot of things. Children of every race and ethnic group are represented and cancer is something that we all have a conncection with some where with friends and family. Check out the website as their will be a 6v6 tournament for youth that will support the fight against cancer.
Tonite check out the ESPN2 doubleheader with Chicago hosting NE and LA hosting San Jose. I have the call of the first game with Tommy Smythe while JP DellaCamera and John Harkes have the second game. Should be an interesting night. Action starts at 7pm central.
HDNET has Chivas and RSL this Saturday night and Channel 55 will cover the Dynamo home opener against FC Dallas at 2pm Sunday.

Great night at Robertson. Too bad more people didn’t make it out for the match.
I was very impressed with Caraccio’s work rate. I think he’ll score some goals for us this year. Ching’s finishing was surprisingly poor. I thought Ashe did some nice things… maybe you should have him on your show every Monday.
Ricardo Clark looked great. It’ll be nice to get him back for the MLS matches.

Only caught the last 15 minutes of the first half, but was impressed with the Argentinian. He’s come lightyears from where he was in the CSD game where he looked tentative and unsure of his role.
Great job coming out of last night with a tie, but come on Glenn, Saprissa has to now be favored to win this. Hopelessly optimistic you are. The only way the Dynamo were going to survive this round was to at least score one, maybe two goals to gain an advantage. Playing south of the border on a suspect pitch lends itself to home field advantage.

GD, congrats on the good gig with Mr. OnionBag himself, will be tuning in! I know you have not forgotten about this Sunday - when Big D rolls to Houston. Talk to my fav player, Dario Sala - there is always good natured dialogue with him and the Texian Army.

I like Carracio when the ball is at his feet. He needs to be a little more active without it though. Looked as if he took some “breaks” from the action. The defense looked better. Not sure if it was because they were better, or because Saprissa seemed content to play in the midfield. I am surprised by the smallish crowds. Isn’t a match like that a little more interesting than say, one against the Crew? Can’t wait for Sunday!

Caraccio had a good game but I think he will be better
Ricardo Clark had a wonderful game.
De Rosario and Ching so so. They are the stars of the team and need to show it…
I hope they win at Costa Rica and play against Pachuca.
Big rematch!!!

Great posts, yeah it is advantage Saprissa certainly in their minds but the Dynamo have everything to play for next Wednesday in Costa Rica.
It would be one of the most signigicant international wins in Dynamo history if they pull it off due to the importance of the match and being on the road.
Saprissa is a strong Central American squad but it is not as though they are playing Manchester United for crying out loud.
It will be opportunity for the franchise next Wednesday…..Caraccio is all about time, the key for me is to see subtle advances in his play and comfort ………He is expected to do more without the ball on this team then his prior squad…….What are your thoughts on the two ESPN games from last night?

About last night:
Chicago was lucky the referee showed that red card (Not deserved) and the “best defender of the league” had a horrible night. Blanco is getting slower but wiser. His talent is intact.
Donovan and Beckham are starting to connect. They need a good forward. Gordon is not the man. He tries but that isn’t enough. Klein had a solid game.
I’m waiting to see how the Red Bulls are going to start the season. I hope Angel continues showing his “Calidad”. He should have been the MVP last year.

Check that. My DVR saved me and I caught the show after all. The show’s production has improved as has the intro music. Looking forward to having some Dynamo wins for you to talk about.
The LA-San Jose game was bittersweet. I feel for San Jose and hope they do well. LA, for its part, played a good first half, but I thought they just hung on in the second. I don’t think they had a preseason that really prepped them for the season.
The game was bittersweet because I know it’s good for the league to have the LA Beckhams do well, but I tire of the incessant one-sided propaganda. Also, they have been given some unique gifts by the League: the “Beckham Rule” was written for them and they’re the only team with exemptions for a non-DP player’s salary — and they have TWO exemptions (Donovan and Ruiz). The franchise has proven so incompetent even when given an edge no other team has. Just for the sake of justice and hopefully to put an end to the ineptitude (and maybe even Alexi Lalas’ arrogance), I hope they struggle mightily. The league should have an environment that rewards quality teams and discourages incompetent teams. Anything less is hypocritical, given that the teams expect their own players to perform or risk being dismissed.
