Lots happening in the world of soccer in the last few days so lets touch on a few subjects and as always I appreciate your insights and comments on the subjects:

1. Dynamo Stadium: Good news here on the letter of intent, shows progress and some timely news to fans who have been patient. The new training complex can become a beacon for events and more which I will discuss in the future.

2. Spencer stays: Supposedly about the dinero which also might have been a polite way to say that John Guppy did not want to take a chance on his autocratic coaching style. Spencer will be a head coach in MLS one day. Denis Hamlett, I will be surprised but this might be the safe move for Chicago. Ten years as an assistant and finally given the head coaching job. Hmmm? Paul Mariner apparently earlier had interviewed and was not sold on the conditions to take his first head coaching job.
Clearly Spencer and Mariner are the two top candidates in my mind.

3. Klinsmann to coach Bayern: Huge news here for FC Hollywood as Juergan Klinsmann will take over in July. And to think he could have been “ours”. US Soccer President Sunil Gulati wanted him but had to settle for Pia Sundhage at the Womens National team and Wilmer Cabrera with the u17 national team to get the foreign influence in U.S. coaching.
Some have told me that Klinsmann would not take a job other than a national team spot and he surprises again. The guy likes challenges just look back at his career when he moved to Spurs in England and to Monaco in France.
Get ready for some fireworks at Bayern.

4. Claudio Lopez to MLS: It’s a rumor but provided the “flea” can still move I would love to see it.

5. Ken Cooper Jr. is unhappy in Dallas and rumor has it is looking to move. The Dynamo have been rumored to be checking on his status which doesn’t surprise me based on Joseoph Ngwenya situation which remains up in the air. The Dynamo need to sign a striker.

6. US/Mexico around the corner and it would be awesome to see a Dynamo or two in that match. Bet on Ricardo Clark .

7.Former FC Dallas goalkeeper Shaka Hislop (did he even play? Oh yeah in the Open Cup at Robertson) has signed on to call games for ESPN international.

8. Dynamo training resumes at the end of the month.

  1. Drace says:

Glenn, Kenny Cooper is clearly unhappy and wants out? Don’t you mean Carlos Ruiz?

  2. el naranja says:

KC to the Dynamo? That’s crazy…FCD is getting rid of Ruiz. Who would they have to score goals this season?

  3. el naranja says:

    Ah!!!

Joseph has signed with SK Karnten!?!

  4. Bonji says:

How would Cooper feel about a move to Colorado? Yes please!

  5. Glenn Davis says:

Front office does not confirm Ngwenya signing to Austrian Club, coming to Dynamo is only a rumor about Cooper but Naranja, nothing should ever surprise you in MLS. If in fact Ngwenya is signed the Dynamo must find another striker. I would think it would need to be one that can stretch defenses and is in a different mold than Ching and Jacqua.

  6. el naranja says:

On Ngwenya – that’s good news, I guess. I’m curious about how the FO denied it. Like Figo did: “Wtf?” or like “We can neither confirm nor deny” comment. I’d love to have him back, that’s for sure. As you pointed out (and many others) Joe brought a very different sort of attack than Ching did.

On KC – If Joe is gone, getting KC wouldn’t be a bad replacement. For a guy like him, who is making only around $80K, you get a good goal scorer and distributor of the ball. Course, he is similar, though not exactly, like Ching and Jaqua.

Hmmm…an interesting week, just when things were getting dull in Dynamo-land

    :p

Trackbacks/Pingbacks

  1. [...] Now there is a little talk about Kenny Cooper wanting out of Dallas. I can tell you this, living here in the Big D I have heard nothing about this. But Glenn Davis down in Houston somehow has. Guess I was busy at work and didn’t get the memo. [...]

  2. [...] *Kenny Cooper, estaria insatisfeito com sua situação no FC Dallas e se mudando para o Houston Dynamo. [...]

  3. [...] Over the last few days rumors have been swirling, most likely originating with this Glenn David report,  that Kenny Cooper wants out of Dallas.  I tracked down Steve Morrow at the combine to ask him about Cooper and his situation.  According to Morrow the rumors are a non-starter. There’s nothing to it.  Cooper is happy in Dallas.  We’re on the same page with the contract.  He wants a new one, we want to give him a new one.  Cooper just needs to get healthy, back on form, and productive and the contract will get taken care of.
