My column today in the Chronicle(www.houstonchronicle.com) focused on the most impactful games of the year in my mind.
Some of my favorites: U.S. 2 Mexico 1 in the Gold Cup Final
Dynamo 2 NE 1 in the MLS Cup Final
Real Madrid 3 Barcelona 3 (Lionel Messi hat trick)
New York Red Bulls 5 LA Galaxy 4 66,000 fans at Giants Stadium
Dynamo 4-1 over FC Dallas in the playoffs.
So what were your favorite games of the year and why? Of course I can think of lots of important Dynamo games in addition to the ones mentioned above. Interliga competition, Concacaf Champions Cup at Pachuca, and countless games in Europe. Hey what about the Copa America Brazil win over Argentina?
Look forward to hearing your thoughts and wishing you a healthy, safe and prosperous New Year.

Best game of the year? My first Dynamo game, watching a soccer match with friends an family was like having a little piece of home in my new home, having my new team win a new championship was a plus but not the best part of having a soccer team to support.
AURRERA DYNAMO

Trouncing Dallas in the playoffs the way we did in Houston was the best soccer game of the year. Nothing like coming back from a huge deficit in big games to get the crowd buzzing. I don\’t think anyone felt we \

The come from two goals down to beat Dallas in the playoffs was clearly the match of the year. It was at home. It was dramatic. It was in the playoffs. It had Dallas as the patsy. It was the perfect match.

I had front row seats at Toyota Park to see Nate and Joe trounce Chicago. Me and a handful of other orange clad supporters were the only ones making noise that night.

the superliga pachuca match, although a loss, was a game i will never forget. The grit and heart of the dynamo filled the staduim with a electricity that was magnified by the fans and returned to the field in a frenzied energy loop feeding all within robertson\’s walls. the atmosphere of competitng chants between the tuzos fans and the dynamo faithful, the improbable sending off of multiple players, being able to read the expressions of the pachuca players as they suddenly realized that the dynamo weren\’t going to fold and might win all combined to make this my match of the year. The knot in my stomach as the pachuca fans chanted \tuzos as we filed out was small price to pay for a truly international soccer experience.

No question, USA over Mexico in the Gold Cup Final in Chicago.

Absolutely no doubt. The 4-1 win over Dallas at Robertson that clinched the playoff run. The MLS Championship win over NE was entirely anticlimatic after the Orange had their way with the striped boyz of FCD in the second half, and OT’s, here at home.
