Ngwenya in Germany/Gardner to Sweden

Filed under: Uncategorized — glenndavis @ 12:26 pm

Joseoph Ngwenya is off to Germany to train or go on trial with German Second Division club Alemannia Aachen.
While in LA with the Galaxy Ngwenya like Houstonian Josh Gardner work individually with Jurgen Klinsmann who was doing consulting work with the LA Galaxy. Klinsmann coveted Ngwenya then so it is no surprise that he is off to Germany.
Ngwenya comes off his best ever year in MLS and that comes down to the team and environment that Dominic Kinnear has created.
“I always do a little training in Europe after the season and if the opportunity comes up great but if not I will be back in Orange,” said Ngwenya.
If the price is right who would not want a shot at Europe? It also puts in question again the depth up front for the Dynamo who have to be concerned about the health of Brian Ching.
Former Galaxy member Josh Gardner who went to Mayde Creek High School and won the USL title with Seattle this past season is in contract negotiations with Swedish club IK Sirius after going on trial and impressing.

  2. This is the price of success. Dom\’s keen eye for talent in his trades and use of these players to bring out this talent gets your players drafted first in the expansion draft or courted by European leagues. It is a shame that other cities see the talent we have here but many of our own citizens don\’t think our city leaders should spend a nickel to build a stadium that would keep such a quality team Dynamo \

  3. (sorry post got cut off) dynasty. I only hope that Oliver can get this Mayor and Council to give them even a fraction of the “considerations” they have given less successful sports franchises here. On another front, any updates on the Women’s NCAA tournament?

  4. I’m also interested in the MLS team Kinnear is coaching across Spain right now. Thanks.

  5. Interesting time to go on trial at Aachen with their coaching change this week and all the turmoil surrounding that team. Wish him well and we will see what develops.

  6. Alex -

Dom and Spence are coaching the Gen Addidas players in Spain right now. They are doing trials and, for a good chunk of them, are warming up for the China 2008 Olympics which start in the spring (Qualifiers). In Spain from the Dynamo are also Corey Ashe and Pat Ianni. While I doubt Ashe gets called up, Ianni has been at the heart of the defense for the U23 Nats and will get the nod. Stuart Holden will be leading the midfield, I imagine, as well, but he is NOT a Gen Addidas player.
