Borgetti says U.S. National team has no pressure

Mexico’s all time leading scorer Jared Borgetti says that Mexico struggles against the United States because of the pressure of the Mexican press.
“They don’t have any pressure, ” Borgetti said of the U.S. team.
“If they win or lose, it doesn’t matter to the press. If we lose, they’ll saw we never beat the United States again.”
Jared Borgetti to the Chicago Tribune

Maybe something got lost in translation here? Jared just to remind you of a few things. Soccer is still trying to establish itself on a sporting landscape in the United States that includes three other major sports.
It does matter to many yet doesn’t dominate because of the above but slowy it is gaining more leverage in some areas of the country in the media.
As for the pressure from the media being a part of losing to the U.S., guess you can’t handle the pressure.
The U.S. National team players that I speak to and MLS players that I speak to all would welcome more pressure. In fact more pressure is essential to the growth of the game in the United States at the national team and professional level.
Good signs in MLS this year show the pressure is on more individuals in all areas from coaches, players, to front office staff and media.
More pressure and attention will ultimately mean player salaries will go up.
What is your take on Jared’s thoughts?
