Ricardo Clark suspended and fined

Dynamo midfielder Ricardo Clark is done for the year.
The MLS has fined Clark $10,000 and suspended him for 9 games which will take him in to next season.
Clark kicked Carl Ruiz while he was on the ground in the waning moments of the Dynamo 3-0 victory over FC Dallas this past Sunday.
Clark missed last year’s MLS Cup Final and will again if in fact the Dynamo get their this season.

Loss of Clark will alter squad

When MLS finally decides to levy it’s penalty on Ricardo Clark I would expect it to be severe.
Fact is I can’t remember anyone kicking anyone in MLS like that, the shocking nature of the moment was hard to fathom.
With a 3-0 scoreline and the game over it was almost bizarre.
Also that it can from Ricardo Clark who is usually very reserved and has been on my radio show numerous times.
Now many might lean towards Carlos Ruiz and his habitual fouling and initiating of contact to try and find excuses.
There are none………….no one kicks a person while prone on the ground.
Ruiz is a separate issue and as he gets older he seems less mobile and more focused than ever on fouling people.
It’s as though he seeks contact first and goals second.
Watch the video of the game and you will be
All you have to do is look back to his play in the Gold Cup where it was almost embarrassing how such a great player spent an entire tournament fouling people.
Every time the ball gets near Ruiz the game seems to stop because of a foul and bodies sometimes are scattered.
With Clark out the optimal Dynamo line-up may not be able to be fielded by Dominic Kinnear.
Richard Mulrooney will slip into the holding midfield role with ease while you would expect Craig Waibel to make his way back into the starting lineup.
Waibel tweaked an injury in practice yesterday and had an MRI done but all seems well for the “peaceful warrior’ to get back into the lineup.
Waibel may not be the passer of the ball out of the right back position that Mulrooney was but he will again be a danger on set-pieces. He will be a bit more of a stay-at-home defender but with the Dynamo midfield hitting all cyclinders it could take responsibility off him to get into the attack.
Thanks to all that attended the new 2 Hour Dynamo Power Hour with Glenn Davis Wednesday night at Taco Milagro.
Thanks for your support of soccer on the radio.
