Anti-soccer?

Filed under: Uncategorized — glenndavis @ 5:49 pm

Channel 13 investigative reporter Wayne Dolcefino is investigating the Harris County Sports Authority.
I am not sure what to make of this so far and if Dolcefino is in need of a story but what also is disturbing is that he is bringing soccer into the situation -specifically the down-town stadium potential.
Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center and Reliant Stadium are up and running and lets not be naive enought to think that despite the success of the Houston Dynamo, its connection to a multi-cultural soccer community, huge participatory numbers in youth and adult soccer, strong tv ratings, and strong attendance at Houston Dynamo games that many will be opposed to a stadium for political and personal reasons. 1. Glenn, as I’ve posted many times before, the ridiculous stadium deals given the other owners by HCSA should actually be a case FOR the Dynamo to be given even half what the other venues gave. Dolcefino’s report has terrible timing, but I do like the exposure of the corrupt insider deals that Burge et al have given the other teams.

  2. Dear Glenn:
It\’s sad, but he also has a job to do. His investigation may help Houston having a soccer field without any scandals.
    Yours. Daniel.

  3. Building stadiums is like making sausage - unsavory, and not pleasant to witness. I imagine this report is just one more element in the shakedown of deep pocketed “out of towners”, AEG.

  4. Here is the guy\’s e-mail address. Show him your love for the Dynamo and tell him what you think of his story.
