The Seattle Sounders of the USL defeated the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer 5-0 last night in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Houston area native Josh Gardner had a goal and an assist to lead the rout as the Sounders move on to the semi-finals to take on FC Dallas.
Gardner player his local youth soccer here in Houston with the Hurricanes and also played at Mayde Creek High School before going on scholarship to U of Cincinnatti. He left his Junior year to join the Nike Project 40 program and spent three years with the LA Galaxy.
