DeRosario a Dynamo till 2010

Dwayne DeRosario has signed at contract to remain a Dynamo till 2010 and this only bodes well for the city of Houston and it’s soccer future.
DeRosario will represent the Dynamo along with Ricardo Clark at next week’s MLS All Star game in Commerce City, Colorado.
His unpredictable style quickly won fans here in Houston who were worried about his potential move to Toronto FC. DeRosario is a native of Canada.

Is DeRosario beginning to break out for the Dynamo? Based on his last two performances I think the best is yet to come.

Dynamo go top of the West

The Houston Dynamo got another overall team performance in the 1-0 victory over DC United last night at Robertson Stadium. Fans in attendance were treated to a night of entertaining soccer that include numerous exciting attacks and strong team and individual performances.
A couple of thoughts:
* DC United actually had two chances to take the lead, one off the dangerous Christian Gomez free kick that bounced in the penalty area off the bar and then Brazilian striker Emilio got in one on one yet was denied by Pat Onstad.
*Dynamo defending Christian Gomez and Emilio well on the evening but the story was the entire mentality defensively from Houston.
*Lots of strong individual performances…..Richard Mulrooney took edge off of Gomez, Holden was relentless, Ching became a provider and some of his passing and ideas impressive, Robinson and Ianni solid in the middle as were Waibel and Barrett. No one got behind Barrett or Waibel making it comfortable in the middle for the central defenders.
*DC struggled to get any width in their attack just like the Red Bulls.
*Some moments of entertaining combination play involving three and four players made it entertaining for the fans.
*Dwayne DeRosario emerged in the second half out of the locker room giving the squad a lift and began to find space in midfield.
*How important have the acquistions of Mulrooney and Ngwenya become?
*On the game’s lone goal DC United’s midfielder Fred keeps Ching onside as he failed to push up with the rest of his teammates. Ching’s re-directed finish was the difference.
*Energy, desire impressive overall.
