On the road with HDNET/Chivas USA get 1-1 draw at NE

Chivas USA hung on for a road point at Gillette Stadium against the NE Revolution.
A fourth minute goal from Mexican legend Claudio Suarez staked Chivas USA to a 1-0 lead and gave them the tactical advantage.
NE came storming out of the locker room after a stern talking to from head coach Steve Nicol. In the second half they were relentless throwing everything at Chivas USA goalkeeper Preston Burpo who pulled off numerous great saves including two from Taylor Twellman in the second half after he came on as a substitute.
NE’s inclusion of Khano Smith got them more width in attack and deliver as he literally ran over people on the left side.
Finally Andy Dorman with his sixth goal of the year scored to tie things up and the rest was Chivas USA hanging on.
Ante Razov was visibly upset being taken off by Chivas USA head coach Preki but in the end he didn’t produce a second goal for Chivas missing on two clear cut chances.
Preston Burpo in goal for Chivas USA was man of the match at the end of the day.
NE midfielder Steve Ralston tied the all time assist leader Carlos Valderrama at 114 on this night as he was credited with the assist on Andy Dorman’s goal.

U.S., Adu beat Brazil at U20 World Cup

Two goals from Jozy Altidore including the 81st minute game winner provided the U.S. with an upset over South American giants Brazil at the u20 World Cup in Canada. Altidore produced both of his goals from passes from captain Freddy Adu who has been impressive at FIFA’s second most important event.
The U.S. will go on to the quarterfinals Wednesday in Toronto while Brazil hopes that with two losses they will even advance.
The historic victory over Brazil puts an emphasis on coach Thomas Rongen who has given Adu the responsibility of being the team’s leader.
Adu’s performance reminds us of his talents which have been less evident in MLS with Real Salt Lake. Adu has made it no secret that he wants to play in Europe. With Canada teeming with player agents players like Adu, Danny Szetela and Altidore could be the targets of European clubs.
Chris Seitz in goal also produced an amazing performance producing several key saves when Brazil got opened up in the second half.
