While traveling around the country calling games for Major League Soccer I often run in to our troops in Airports who are in transit.
It always makes me think how fortunate I am and reminds me my troubles and concerns are minimal compared to what these brave soldiers are going through. It does not matter where you politics lie but what matters is that these individuals putting it on the line for us know they are appreciated. I make it a point to say thank you as often as possible without being bothersome.
Ironically this morning while flying to the FC Dallas/Chivas USA game I got seated between two soldiers on the Fourth of July.
It definetly touched a nerve with me .
Here I was going to call a soccer game while these two individuals were on their way back to Iraq.
So here is Chivas USA with Maykel Galindo who so wanted out of Cuba that he defected a few years back. Now he performs professionally for Chivas USA and is appreciated for his skills in the United States …….Today FC Dallas defeated Chivas USA 2-0 yet what I will take from this fourth of July will always be the two soldiers that I sat with on the Airplane on a fourth of July.
