Gold Cup Final - USA vs Mexico - Feilhaber Gol Goal Golazo
Game winning goal from Ben Feilhaber in the USA’s successful defense of its Gold Cup championship title. in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup. 2-1 USA! Dos a Uno Estados Unidos!
USA is the top side to beat in North America. Mexico is firmly #2. Mexico has not won a match vs the USA in the US in over a decade. USA Futbol has arrived

USA futbol has not arrived, and i has not arrived because we don\’t want to arrive, I don\’t have nothing about CONCACAF, but winning the Gold Cup just doesn\’t give you much respect in the world, that\’s why Mexico has been playing the last 6 Copa America, U.S. dissed Copa America, and we payed the price, we had to wait to get invited again.
And what do we do?, we are sending a B team, Mexico won some respect by being 2nd place 2 times and 3rd place 2 times in only 6 Cups, U.S. has again the chance to win some real respect, U.S. has the chance to improve their 4th place (before dissing Copa America) and show how good the team is, we can shout and yell how we rule Gold Cup, how be are so much better than Mexico, but for the rest of the world, until we start getting better results than Mexico outside of the Gold Cup they wont see how good the team is.
A friend told me that the problem is that the problem is that this year Gold Cup and Copa America were scheduled without any rest time, that Mexico is going to give some rest to 3 of their European players because of the hectic schedule they had on the last year, but I just see the 2 roster s and I see that Mexico is going with the same team except for the 3 guys that play in Europe (and without Borgueti because of his injury, but I\’m with Glenn, not having him helps them instead of hindering them), instead of traveling with 22 or 23 players (I really don\’t know the number I\’m guessing) they will be traveling with 18 or 19 players. While the U.S. is sending a very different team, yes using young players might be good, but come on, we dissed the Cup for so much that we deserve a real fighting chance, what if Argentina kills us with 3 or 4 goals?, Mexico tied a 2nd phase game regular time against them in the W.C. (they lost on Over Time), loosing against Argentina in Copa America by more than 2 goals will not show U.S. is the better team.
I want what Mexico has in Copa America, the 2nd and 3rd places shows that they usually have a real fighting chance of winning the tournament, I wan that, give me that, you want to increase the level of some young guys?, don\’t do it in Copa America, this is a tournament that gives real respect, not like Gold Cup, GO AND EARN RESPECT don\’t loose it in just one week guys.
Don\’t get me wrong, I\’m not saying the U.S. needs to win the World Cup to be consider a good sport in the U.S. like that Clown Salomon said in the Chronicle, perhaps we wont see the U.S. win a World Cup in our lifetime (perhaps we will, we have what many countries don\’t have, one of the greatest structures for young players, imagine when we can achieve the same structure at the child level), perhaps we wiil, but this is soccer, you don\’t need to win World Cups to have great soccer, FIFA has so many countries than winning the WC is not that easy, I don\’t need them to win the World Cup, not even Copa America, but I do want them to show their real level, not sending a B team.
We want respect, everyone\’s saying, but when we get the chances to earn it, we do things like this, we shout, WE ARE THE KINGS OF CONCAFA MEXICO IS #2, but only people in CONCACAF knows it, when we get the chance to do at least as good as Mexico in Copa America (we need to play a couple of championship games to do as good as them) we pull a U.S. Basketball National Team.
Mad?, you bet I\’m mad, is the U.S. a better team?, yesterday\’s game says yes, but if Mexico gets to the 2nd phase and we don\’t, the world will keep saying they are better.

Sorry, I had a typo, the part that says “I have nothing about CONCACAF” it should read, “I have nothing agaisnt CONCACAF”

We are deservingly the best in CONCACAF. That being said, we\’ve far from arrived. Three things have to happen, and only one has so far.
1) We have to consistantly win in CONCACAF. That has happened. Rizpekt.
2) We have to be able to sell out an NFL stadium with AMERICAN fans, not fans of another country, and get the public to start supporting the USA the way they do other countries when they travel here. Chicago, Illinois looked more like Chicago, Jalisco, and that\’s horrible.
And the American national media did everything they could to keep the game itself under the radar. Today on PTI for example, when Tony Kornhisier was asked \

The reason the U.S. squad is inexperienced is because of Major League Soccer. Pure and simple the league can’t afford not to have it’s best over both tournaments so the focus was on winning the Gold Cup.
I like all of you wish we could send our best to Copa America but back to back tournaments make it a difficult situation as one is trying to grow a league also.
One of the sticking points of Jurgen Klinsmann not being hired was this very issue. Control over player selection for Copa America.

The United States best player in the Gold Cup was
the officiating. They did not deservingly win this
Gold Cup. Just ask Canada.
Is it just coincidence that in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final there were favorable penalty
calls for the U.S.???
