Alejandro Moreno is expected to be traded officially tomorrow to the Columbus Crew for midfielder/striker Joseoph Ngwenya.
Ngwenya from Zimbabwe recently earned an international call-up and played at Coastal Carolina in college. Drafted by the LA Galaxy he was brought to Columbus by Sigi Schmid.
Ngwenya has the versatility to play both in midfield and up front and the Dynamo look to be strengthening their squad through trades within the league. Schmid will get a striker who can hold the ball and hopefully enhance midfielder Guillermo Barros Schelotto ……..The Mexican Legends including Alberto Garcia Aspe will play the Argentine legends at Robertson Stadium on June 23….Andrew Shue of Melrose Place fame is a guest interview on this Friday’s edition of the Dynamo Soccer Report with Glenn Davis, head coach Dominic Kinnear also weighs in ……On trial with the Dynamo is Dyron Daal a 6′4 center forward who was on loan at Dundee United in Scotland from Aberdeen. Daal was part of the Ajax system in Holland ……

Here a few things happening in the world of soccer….Jay-Jay Okocha the former Nigerian international is interested in playing in MLS according to contact I have with his agent….Chris Brown and Chris klein scored unreal goals in the 3-3 draw with the New York Red Bulls up in Salt Lake City but this is a game that the Red Bull threw points away in the debut of Jason Kries as head coach of REAL. How can you not love Ronald Watterreus in goal for the Red Bulls. A bargain at $200,000 he lends experience behind a younger back four, is the best ever goalkeeper in MLS at distribution and clearly no other goalkeeper can play with his feet as well as the former Dutch international plus the guy can control the game from his position. In the past MLS teams have used young goalkeepers in many cases at a nominal fee and it has cost them. Bruce Arena pulled off a coupe landing this guy…..Former Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel’s work visa is ready and he should debut for the Red Bulls this week. Angel will also serve the wonderful purpose of a living, breathing example to 17 year old Josey Altidore as to how to play the striker position and help him improve his ability to hold the ball up front. A good signing for a variety of reasons…..Listening to the radio jocks drool over the Roger Clemens situation in Houston (his announcement at Yankee Stadium smacked of a lack of class and was a pure ego stroke in my humble opinion don’t forget the Astros let him come and go as he pleased to be with family) they mentioned his desire to go into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee but MLB won’t let it happen. Reminds me of Eric Wynalda going in to the soccer Hall of Fame as a Chicago Fire member whom he briefly played with. He spent his career in San Jose with average to poor teams yet that is where he played San Jose and that is whom he should have gone in the Hall as a member of . Here in MLS I guess the player can choose. Think of the Fire you think of Bradley, Nowak, Armas, Kubik, Thornton, Razov, Kosecki, Podbrozny and a host of others before Eric Wynalda. Kind of strange but Wynalda chose the team he felt he played best with albeit a short time. The Hall of Fame needs to take more control here. So now to my problem. Whom will I choose to go into the Hall with? The Pennsylvania Stoners, Columbus Capitals, Albany Capitals or the Ft. Lauderdale strikers whom I played two games with during the Marlboro Cup of San Antonio back in the 80’s . God this is stressful but it is my legacy. I need help figuring this out. Maybe the Stoners because it is the all time greatest soccer name. This is my legacy don’t forget ![]()
Alright lets get serious here……KC/Colorado please get some fans, it is embarrassing but it is also a reminder that years of mediocrity can not be reversed over night. A stadium does not solve all your problems and you need to be community based, yes Community and establishing relationships in your community is the key here and has to be done 24/7 with out rest. You have to have people that can do THIS JOB……And Jeff Plush in Colorado before you sell us the we are “international” with our Arsenal relationship how about making your team relevant in Denver…The fans are already gone from the first game and marketing a soccer team is different than lacrosse or hockey. We are way beyond this at this point…..It is easy to put the red flag up now on a number of organizations that HAVE to improve in the year of the Beckham spotlight. A good team alone won’t do it, a stadium alone won’t do it, the combination of the aformentioned plus a community based staff with a plan who can build relationships is the only way. Think local before conquering the world….All you have to do is study DC United, Houston, and some of the more successful franchises who are doing well yet are challenged every day.
Ok back to this emotional decision of who I will go into the Hall representing…..I still say Stoners…..
