Champions League quarterfinals on tap Tuesday and Wednesday

The Soccer Hour UEFA LogoThe greatest league in the World is on display this Tuesday and Wednesday as we get down to the quarterfinals. Here is what is in store in these two legged affairs.
AC Milan vs Bayern Munich Top Champions League goal scorer Kaka leads Milan who have been average in Serie A play but could
put all that to rest by getting past Bayern Munich led by Claudio Pizarro as a goalscorer. Paolo
Maldini was rested during the weekend in Serie A and will appear in his 102nd game in Champions
League play. Remarkable. Milan wins at home 2-0 1:30 CST on ESPN Deportes

PSV Eindhoven vs Liverpool PSV does not have the pressure that Liverpool has but injury problems have negated that
advantage. Ronald Koeman will have them on the underdog card in the locker room.
Does Peter Crouch play a part at Eindhoven? Gerrard leadership a plus for the “reds”. Mexican int.
Carlos Salcido gets the start after moving to Holland after World Cup. Liverpool 2-1.

Wednesday Roma vs Manchester United Do I have to say it again, yes I do. The Roman God Francesco Totti will be
counted on in a big way for Roma who need advantage going back to Old
Trafford. “Statement” game for Roma if they want to get past “Red Devils”.
Can anybody stop Cristiano Ronaldo? Manchester United 2 Roma 1

Chelsea vs Valencia Didier Drogba leads a re-shaped Chelsea this year fitting in star quality and is second
leading scorer in the Champions League behind Kaka of AC Milan. With out Fernando
Morientes Chelsea rolls. Chelsea 2-0 over Valencia.

Blanco to MLS

The Soccer Hour Cuauhtemoc BlancoOk Club America fans your man is coming to MLS!
Cuahutemoc Blanco will join the Chicago Fire in the summer as the third designated player signed by Major League Soccer following David Beckham in LA and Claudio Reyna in New York. It’s no secret that the three largest media centers and cities in MLS would be the first to pull the trigger on the designated player.
Blanco will join the Fire in the summer after completing the season with Club America in Mexico.
Yesterday Blanco displayed his talents in a 2-0 victory over Quetaro in Mexican League play. Blanco set up Salvador Cabanas beautifully for a second goal and reminded me of his wonderful attacking ability.
His move to MLS has to be applauded, Blanco is taking risk or is he?
If he succeeds and can be as dominant in MLS as in the Mexican League he will certainly leave a better impression than Carlos Hermosillo, Luis Hernandez (who was always looking for the next party) and Jorge Campos.
Fact is will he take the league seriously? Fans will demand alot of “their hero” and he will put people in seats and could be the platform to convert more Mexican League fans.
Head coach Dave Sarachan of the Fire will be challenged to manage Blanco. He will need to sourround him with the right players to put him in a position to succeed. An aging Chris Armas will need to be supported by a more mobile partner in midfield presuming Blanco plays in the “hole’ behind a striker or two.
Blanco will not find MLS easy, and will get less time on the ball as opposed to the Mexican League where defending at times can be naive.
The Fire needed a spike in a tough sports market to crack and they will get it from Blanco when he arrives initially.
