Troubled times for Chelsea

The Soccer Hour Jose Mourinho of Chelsea A missed opportunity to pick up points this week makes one wonder if Chelsea can catch Manchester United in the Premier League.
Huge questions abound for Jose Mourinho the head coach who now finds himself in the press trying to defend himself in trying to acquire depth in central defense with the injury to spiritual leader John Terry.
Mourinho is making it clear he will not over-spend on a defender. Reality is in order to find one of caliber he will have to.
It is not a buyers market for Mourinho and Chelsea, not a great position to be in when purchasing players…..desperation.
Yet they have a history of over-paying players so why not just do it one more time Roman in acquiring a defender?
Terry’s injury has shown just how valuable he is to the ‘Blues’….without him they have looked vulnerable in the air in the box and seem to have lost the ‘glue’ that binds Chelsea together.
Many like to talk about team over individuals but rare individuals like Terry are only missed more when they are gone.
Just think Roy Keane at Man Utd and how long it took to absorb his loss or at Arsenal Patrick Viera.
Andri Shevechenko and Michael Ballack have been far from successful signings reminding us the difficulty of adjusting to different leagues in Europe.

Waibel-Thoughts from the peaceful warrior

The Soccer Hour Craig WaibelAnother glimpse into my twisted mind reveals that I love that jello feeling that sweeps over my body seconds after the last push of energy in the gym. I can’t wait to feel the pins and needles accompanied by the burning sensation in my lungs that let me know I am pushing too hard. I can’t explain the sudden dizziness that occurs right after pushing through the psychological walls of my workouts, but I love it nontheless.
All of these things are what I live to achieve in the off-season……and if you believe that you deserve to know the truth.
It is time for you all to get me through this with a little group help.
My problems are endless and constantly stalk me when I go to the gym. I catch them out of the corners of my eyes as they chase me for miles on the treadmills. I can feel them pushing on the bars as I try to lift weights. I know I caught one of them sitting on my back just two days ago while I was trying to do push-ups.
Oddly enough they are all wearing opposing MLS jerseys when I see them.
Most have a striking resemblance to forwards or left sided midfielders as well. I run from them in December and January because I know I will have to run at them for the following ten months. This is the day to day tug of war that I wil play with myself for the next three to four weeks until January 25th when I will be freed from my own creativity and enjoying the game with teammates once again. I love being competitive and I know that the day I am not chased by these off season apparitions is the day that I am going to retire. Until next time.
