Sampson to Chivas USA ?

The Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis - Steve SampsonWith former Chivas USA head coach Bob Bradley gone to coach the U.S. National team the question remains who will assume the reigns at Chivas USA?
One possibility is former LA Galaxy head coach Steve Sampson who reportedly has spoken with Chivas USA management.
Before you say no way, remember this.
Sampson is great at selling himself, is bi-lingual, lives in the area and has won an MLS Cup. Sampson can certainly give the line of using revenge as motivation and is clear on the goings on within the league. Apart from timed spurts of solid play and an interested Landon Donovan, Sampson proved in his time in LA that a bad regular season team could win the MLS cup if it produced good play at the right times.
Sampson it seems always is quick to change tactics and personel in order to solve problems.
Many question his leadership and man management skills and he certainly won’t be promoted by outgoing coach Bob Bradley whom you would assume Chivas USA would ask for advice.
Chivas USA needs to make a decision soon with the college draft and combine coming up shortly. Within the week you would think they would have a decision. Is there a qualified hispanic coach based on the structure of MLS?
Other candidates: Preki-currently an assistant, an amazing player not ready for prime time coaching. Still learning the ropes. No Frank Stapleton re-visit here.
Fernando Clavijo- currently under contract to the Rapids, Clavijo may be the best choice. You can bet he would love to head to the cauldron of Los Angeles and be coaching a team with foreign investment and history as opposed to being in the hinterlands of Colorado.

Gbandi on Lamar Hunt

The Soccer Hour Chris GbandiThis past week we lost our great owner Lamar Hunt. My
thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I was very
fortunate to have had the opportunity on several
occasions to sit down with Mr. Hunt and just talk
sports. I love football, so I would always ask him
about the K.C. Chiefs. He would sit and talk for as
long as I wanted. Anything, from how he thought the
coach was doing at the time, to who his favorite
player was, he was open with me. He was a kind and
humble man who would treat you with respect no matter
who you were. Thanks so much for all you did for the
sport of soccer in this coutry. But most of all thank
you for just being a wonderful human being.

Until next time, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New
year. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
