Son living in shadow of legend Dalglish

Filed under: Uncategorized — webmaster @ 5:55 pm

Dynamo Paul DalglishLiverpool fans are probably wishing Kenny Dalglish was still playing or managing the “Reds’ right now who are struggling in the Premiership.
Who would have thought Dalglish when he came to Liverpool in the 70’s would go on to do bigger and better things than Kevin Keegan yet that is exactly what he did. Considered one of the greatest players in the history of the game Dalglish also led Liverpool to the double (League and Cup winners ) as a player-manager or player coach as we would say in the U.S. He also starred for Celtic and the Scottish National team.
It’s tough being the son of a legend yet that is what current Houston Dynamo forward Paul Dalglish is.
“I thought my middle name was ‘Kenny’s son’, ” says Paul. “It’s very proud for me what my dad has done in football. If I have to put up with a little bit more pressure and expectation I am more than willing to do that because he was one of the greatest players that ever lived. For him to be my dad is a proud moment.”
So does Paul gather the occasional tip from his legendary father?
“Dad’s back home (Scotland) are more critical. He said, ‘I’ll tell you things you are not doing right’, ” says the younger Dalglish. It was my mom who would tell me I was good.
Dalglish could eventually be the right compliment to Brian Ching as a striker that can look for the ball in behind defense yet in the first game of the Western Conference semi-finals he was not close enough to Ching and struggled to be dangerous…..
Midfielder Ben Olsen of DC United walked up to referee head Joe Machnkik of MLS underneath Giants Stadium after the recent DC United victory over the Red Bulls and pulled up his sweat pants to reveal some surface cuts on his legs. Olsen then went on to proclaim that Amado Guevara of the New York Red Bulls does this every game to him.
Guevara incidentally had a chance to break up the play that ultimately led to the give n go between Christian Gomez and Jaime Moreno that led to the classy lone goal in the 1-0 victory over the Red Bulls.

  1. Great story on Sir Braveheart(as we call him). These are the kind of stories we don’t hear in the mainstream
sports media. Thank you for your continued efforts to
bring the news to us..GO dynamo!!

  2. King Kenny is well loved by all Reds’ supporters. As a long time Reds supporter and now Texian Army member(not a north ender however,) I have a unique opportunity.

We are eager to love the son here in Houston as well. I was one of the first to stand and cheer the arrival of Paul in Houston. This past Sunday, all stood and cheered when he left the pitch. The day of the son is come.

    Cheers.
